Free websites Wikis for Everyone - Wikispaces Internet turns customers into ambassadors | Trends Brands that embrace the digital space have much stronger relationships with consumers than those that fail to exploit the power of the internet. By Louise Jack As every marketer knows, digital consumers matter. Not just because there are ever increasing numbers of people using the internet or because online environments impact on almost every product category. New research from Millward Brown suggests that digital consumers also have stronger relationships with brands. A “digital consumer” is one who uses the internet to both shop and research their purchases. Millward Brown analyses all the consumers surveyed in 2008 and compares the brand relationships of digital consumers with those of non-digital consumers. In a recent article, Wheeler, Yeomans, and Wheeler (2008) suggested: Wikis enable students to collaboratively generate, mix, edit and synthesize subject-specific knowledge within a shared and openly accessible digital space. Both of these descriptions highlight higher-level thinking skills that teachers would love to see developed in their students. Challenges (with benefits) As we examine some of the challenges that teachers face when using a wiki for instructional purposes with students, the following three challenges will be discussed, along with the benefits that also accompany them. 1.
Roxer - The easiest way to make a webpage Collaborize Classroom | Online Education Technology for Teachers and Students Information Architects » Blog Archive » The Spectrum of User Experience (1) by Oliver Reichenstein As we all perfectly know, designers are narcissists; programmers are nerds, and whoever wears a tie must be a clueless jerk. Designers, programmers and business people love to hate each other. That’s why we keep them separated: Can’t we just all get along? Or leave each other alone? The business department and the engineers need to agree on a product definition that guarantees high performance; engineers and designers need to work together to make the interface as simple as possible; and designers need to team up with the business folks to get the communication consistent. Dull Work, Dull Product It’s more than obvious that if the work process is dull the product will be dull. On the other side, whether you perceive a job as dull or fun largely depends on your character. This article is the first part of a series.

The buttons to the right are links to various resources. Search EnginesThere are numerous search engines for the surface Web. Which one should you use? Notess, G. Directory BrowsingDirectory browsing is another way of searching the surface Web. Metasearch EnginesMetasearch engines search several search engines simultaneously and combine the results. More metasearch engines can be found, with reviews, at the Search Engine Watch website. Copernic AgentCopernic Agent is a tool the author has found useful. The Way of the Wiki: Building Online Creativity and Cooperation These tools are the ultimate enablers of collaboration -- in and out of class. Credit: Wesley Bedrosian A simple, cheap technology with a funny name will become an even more powerful portal into creative teaching and learning this year. Educators, if you haven't already, meet the wiki. Wikis are Web sites that can be instantly and easily edited by anyone the wiki owner chooses to allow (in the case of Wikipedia, everyone in the world). "A wiki is the greatest project tool that's ever been created," says Vicki Davis, ed-tech blogger and classroom wiki pioneer. What's so great about it? How great is that? Davis, who blogs as Cool Cat Teacher, has witnessed some of the best uses and worst misunderstandings of wikis. She knows, though, that the truth about wikis as teaching tools is far better than the fiction, and every day more and more educators are seeing that, too. The learning potential with wikis goes further than that. "It is not like some greased-pig contest," Davis says.
