Le 1er mai sous le signe de l'austérité dans le monde Une manifestation de travailleurs du 1er mai 2013 Photo : AFP/ARIS MESSINIS De l'Espagne à l'Italie, en passant par la Grèce, Chypre ou la France, la lutte contre l'austérité, le chômage et les inégalités ont été au cœur des manifestations du 1er mai dans les grandes villes du monde à l'occasion de la Journée internationale des travailleurs. En Grèce, où la récession sévit depuis maintenant six ans, quelque 13 000 manifestants sont descendus dans les rues de Thessalonique et d'Athènes. Leur action était toutefois absente de l'univers médiatique lui-même en grève. Aucun bulletin d'information n'a ainsi été diffusé. Les transports en commun ont également observé une journée de grève tout comme des banques. « Le soulèvement des travailleurs de Chicago [le 1er mai 1886, qui a entraîné la création de la fête du Travail] montre la voie des luttes contre l'esclavage moderne », proclame un communiqué du syndicat des marins traditionnellement en grève tous les ans le 1er mai.

The report, involving 25 authors from 11 countries and titled Land concentration, land grabbing and people’s struggles in Europe, reveals the hidden scandal of how just three per cent of landowners have come to control half of all farmed land. Some of these processes of ever-increasing land concentration are not new; however they have accelerated in recent decades in particular in Eastern Europe. The report features in-depth case studies on strong land concentration trends in Spain, Germany, Italy, France and Austria. Prof. The report however shows that land concentration and land grabbing are not going unopposed, but instead inspiring a massive wave of resistance.

Un autre aspect non négligeable de la manifestation est l’aspect perturbateur. Un regard anthropologique Dans une perspective anthropologique, une manifestation s’apparente à une « rébellion», action mettant en scène une attitude d’opposition, voir de révolte à l’égard d’un pouvoir politique. Pour l’anthropologue Marc Abélès, les rituels sont des « pièges de la pensée humaine, où les individus croient que tout est possible».
