Dark Chocolate Is Good For You - And Now We Finally Know Why! Dark chocolate is one of the most delicious substances known to man, and it has the added benefit of being fairly good for you in moderation. A study led by Diederik Esser from Wageningen University in the Netherlands has shown that ingesting dark chocolate can actually improve vascular health. The results were published in The FASEB Journal. Before we go any further, it needs to be made quite clear that studies referring to the benefit of dark chocolate are not talking about your average Hershey’s bar. Typical candy bars have a low cocoa percentage and much larger amounts of sugar and fat, which negate any incurred health benefit, if not actually making it worse. The forty-four study participants were all middle-aged men who were overweight. After the study’s completion, participants were found to have an increased flexibility in their arteries, which is likely staving off atherosclerosis and improving blood flow.

It is very common for me to have a patient tell me that they have all their issues on just one side of the body. A pain in the left foot, a bad left hip, a bad left shoulder, left-sided abdominal pain, a pain in the neck on the right side; why? Why do rashes choose the left or right side of the body? Why does the acuity of the eyes differ so greatly from one to the other? Why do we get pains often on just one side of the body? According to Ayurveda, the left side of the body is completely different than the right side, and, while I know it sounds strange, emphasizing the left side for rest and sleep offers some time tested wisdom for very real health and longevity benefits. Join me as we investigate this old Ayurvedic concept and see if it still holds water today. The Lymph Drains toward the Left The Priority System of the Body Better Elimination

Oil Pulling With Coconut Oil to Transform Your Dental Health I love it when I learn new things from the comments people leave on my site. About two weeks ago, I wrote an article about coconut oil – an awesome tropical oil with many health benefits. A few people commented that they use coconut oil for something called Oil Pulling – which is kind of like using an oil as mouthwash. Apparently, there are quite a few studies that support this process and a lot of people swear by it. It is claimed to whiten your teeth, make your breath fresher and lead to massive improvements in oral health. I have now been doing this every morning for about 10 days… and I am impressed. What is Oil Pulling and How Does it Work? Oil pulling involves swishing oil around the mouth and has been used for thousands of years as an Indian folk remedy. In order to oil pull, you put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth, then swish it around for 15-20 minutes. The main benefit of doing this, is that it reduces the amount of harmful bacteria in the mouth. The way oil pulling works is simple.
