Tunisians sceptical of new govt - Africa The announcement of a new 'unity government' by Mohamed Ghannouchi, the Tunisian prime minister, has been met with anger by some protesters, who say too many members of ousted President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's party remain in power. The PM announced that the former defence, foreign, interior and finance ministers will keep their key posts in the new government formed after the public uprising led to the flight of President Ben Ali. Up to 1,000 protesters gathered mainly near Tunis' Habib Bourguiba Avenue to demonstrate against the announcement. Tanks and troops were deployed, and water cannons and tear gas fired against activists who demanded that members of Ben Ali's Constitutional Democratic Rally (CDR) be excluded from the new government. "Who did the revolt? Al Jazeera's correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin said protesters were "rejecting the possibility that any incoming or caretaker or national unity government could possibly have figures or leaders from the previous regime".

10 ways I got sucked into buying the 9/11 cover story By Craig McKee On Sept. 11, 2001, I was part of the majority. I believed that Osama bin Laden had led a group of Islamic fundamentalists to crash planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. There were many things that made me accept this, but mostly it was because I believed what I saw on TV. I believed that the attacks – while reprehensible – were a logical result of America’s imperialist policies around the world. This made me and people who agreed with me valuable dupes for the real criminals. Despite being fooled about 9/11, there were some things that made me immediately suspicious that morning. But even with that doubt, I didn’t seriously doubt the official story. In a way, it’s surprising to me I could be so naive. But the lie was so massive I couldn’t see it. As I came to realize later, there were individual elements of the official story that were positively essential for maintaining the fake terrorist scenario. Most of us won’t make the effort. Apple rumor mill: The iPad 2 getting a dual-core GPU, Retina Display How do you sustain the lust factor for the iPad as more and more tablets enter the market? The anticipated iPad 2 will probably deal with some of the first version's shortcomings, such as built-in cameras (one for snapping photos, the other for video chatting), but that will meet expectations, not inspire desire. Instead, tech and Apple sites are a-flutter with rumors that the new iPad will feature supercharged graphics and enhanced resolution. Ironically, it appears that the new iPad will be competing on good old-fashioned tech specs, with a new A5 chip that will include dual-core graphics via the SGX543MP2 core. It's supposedly twice as fast as the SGX535 that's in the current iPad, and can support four times the pixel count. That's all well and good, but how could that resolution be used on the iPad? "But can it play Crysis?"
History Commons Chevy Volt's HVAC system designed for grueling winter weather Harsh winter weather can diminish the range of battery-powered vehicles. Likewise, the performance of a plug-in hybrid like the Chevrolet Volt can suffer as the mercury dips. However, when General Motors' designed the Volt, the automaker wanted to develop a plug-in that could effectively tackle grueling winter weather without a noticeable degradation in performance. Volvo dealt with this issue by adding a small ethanol heater. Though In the winter, the Volt's battery pack is often tasked with powering a resistive heater to warm the vehicle's cabin and, as Susan Stevenson, GM's benchmarking engineer for heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems explains, "It requires as much energy to heat the interior of a car on a cold day as it does to drive at a constant speed." Therefore, GM designed the Volt's HVAC system to minimize battery drain while still allowing it to pump out ample heat to keep occupants comfortable. [Source: General Motors]
