Fabric Panels: How To Gosh, you all are so sweet! Thank you for the nice comments about my new studio - if I could, I'd have everyone over for tea, lemon scones, and crafty conversation :) My fabric panels are super simple and I wanted to share how I made them. The inspiration was what many of us face when we have fabric we love but can't bear to cut it - what to do? Place the double stick along the edges of the foam core, gently pull the fabric over each corner and press down onto the tape, and then working from opposite sides, gently pull taut the fabric along the sides and press down onto the tape. I used wall putty to put them up so I wouldn't have a bunch of little holes in the wall. If you don't want to wrap the fabric around (or there just isn't enough fabric to do it) then put the double stick tape along the edges on the front and press your fabric on. I think it would be so cool to create a whole quilt on the wall with the panels butted up next to each other, don't you?
Simplystella's Sketchbook 60 Projects to Make with Dollar Store Supplies [pinit] One of my very favorite activities is going to the dollar store and thinking of things to make from the products there. It forces me to be thrifty, and to think outside of the box. Does this always yield a stunning outcome? Nope. But the times that I do love what I end up with make the failures absolutely worth it. The projects I found for this compilation are pretty impressive. Salvage Dior took a black rubber door mat from the dollar store and made this faux vintage iron wall piece. Need some organizing inspiration? Remember when I made marker storage from a garage sale frame and some dollar store buckets? When I first saw this, I thought it was beautiful. Are you excited about this round-up?

Owls, Foil, Glue, and Shoe Polish (original artwork by David, grade 5) Art Club, Grades 1-6 This is one of my all-time favorite projects. We first planned our compositions, paying attention to all of the positive and negative spaces. 1. **I've noticed on Pinterest some people think we used coloring book images. 2. 6. 7. Once you've filled all of the spaces, rub over the whole thing with black shoe polish, wait a few seconds, and wipe off. A couple of you have commented on the color- the results will be an aged silver metal look, something along the color lines of pewter. Yes. When I was hanging these up, parents, teachers, and kids all stopped to ask about them- I love being able to tell my Art Club artists how much people enjoy their art work! Make it a wonderful day!

How to make gift bags from newspaper When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Upend the bag so the 2" flap is now up. Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag.
WhatTheCraft 50 Things You Should Stop Buying & Start Making As a society, we have become over-reliant on “ready made” products. We have lost the ability to make things from scratch. Rather than blend up some peanuts to make delicious, tasty and fresh peanut butter, we’ll spend many dollars on a jar from the store that contains artificial preservatives, unnecessary packaging and that simply lines the pockets of huge, unethical multinational corporations. Aside from foods, you can also make your own personal care products, beauty and make up products, cleaning products and home accessories that taste, work or look better than store bought, without the harmful chemicals and toxins and free from excessive, earth damaging packaging. Foods Homemade Ketchup – This ketchup won’t brake the bank, tastes better than the real deal and contains no added sugar – so it’s nutritionally good for the whole family. Peanut Butter – It is so simple to make this pantry staple it would be silly to buy it. Want to learn more about making your own foods? Next Page >>>

Fairy Door Make a wee fairy door, and invite a touch of fairy magic into your garden. Great way to encourage outdoor imaginative play. My four year old daughter JJ’s been obsessed with listening to Rainbow Magic fairy books for months and months now, and roleplaying with fairy figurines is one of her favourite games to play. She and I often see evidence of fairies in our day to day lives – a wildflower blooming, a mushroom growing or the sparkles of dew. But she recently made a tentative comment about how fairies aren’t really “real”. This DIY fairy door took only a couple of minutes to make. green coloured craft sticks (or you could paint your own using acrylic or other waterproof paint).garden shearscordless hot glue gungumnut 1. 2. 3. 4. If someone could send me a gardener, that would be fantastic. Hopefully we’ll have a visit from the fairies soon! xx Danya
