Photography's Longest Exposure - household name : : : blog [click +] Six months. That's right. This dream-like picture shows each phase of the sun over Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge taken during half a year. Photographer Justin Quinnell strapped the camera to a telephone pole overlooking the Gorge, where it was left between December 19, 2007 and June 21, 2008––the Winter and Summer solstices. 'Solargraph' shows six months of the sun's luminescent trails and its subtle change of course caused by the earth's movement in orbit. Quinnell, a renowned pin-hole camera artist, says the photograph took on a personal resonance after his father passed away on April 13, halfway through the exposure.
Paper Flowers – Anyone Can Do That | FindInspirations.com Japanese Kusudama, this tutorial is featured on Craftuts Anyone can do that, I assure you. The proof: I can, just take a quick look at my result below. And, believe me, I am neither meticulous nor particularly patient. Below you can see my very first attempt to create paper flowers. What you will need to make your own Kusudama paper ball? 1. 3. 4. (optionally) I prefer torn paper instead of cut. You have to start with a single petal. Now you have to glue your 5 petals into a flower. Apply the glue to only one side of each petal, except for the last one, in this case cover both sides with glue. Your first flower is done. Don’t glue every petal right after you make it. When all 12 flowers are finished you have to glue them together. When two halves of Kusudama Flower Ball are ready you have to glue them together.
amandasage.com Louis Wain Louis Wain at his drawing table[1] Louis Wain (5 August 1860 – 4 July 1939) was an English artist best known for his drawings, which consistently featured anthropomorphised large-eyed cats and kittens. In his later years he may have suffered from schizophrenia (although this claim is disputed), which, according to some psychiatrists, can be seen in his works. Life and work[edit] A naturalistic cat from early in Wain's career. Louis William Wain was born on 5 August 1860 in Clerkenwell in London. Wain was born with a cleft lip and the doctor gave his parents the orders that he should not be sent to school or taught until he was ten years old. An early Louis Wain caricature, featuring bulldogs rather than cats. Wain soon quit his teaching position to become a freelance artist, and in this role he achieved substantial success. In 1886, Wain's first drawing of anthropomorphised cats was published in the Christmas issue of the Illustrated London News, titled "A Kittens' Christmas Party". Dr. H.

Stunning Self-Portraits by a 17-Year-Old (18 photos) Like Valerie Chiang or Kalie Garrett, Alex Stoddard is one of those talented teenage photographers who knows how to express themselves. His self-portraits are all incredibly unique and after viewing them you're left wondering where he's going to take you next. What I enjoy most is that you can almost feel his passion come through. His commitment to not only executing on an idea but doing it well, is apparent to anyone who sees his photos. I got in touch with Alex to ask him a few questions, including how his style evolved while taking on the 365 project. What have you learned from your 365 project? Your photos are all beautifully artistic. I see that you're friends with Rosie Hardy. How has Flickr helped you develop your style? Are there any quotes you live by? Thanks for the interview, Alex. Check out more of Alex's incredible photos on his Flickr page.
Do It Yourself Doodler | David Jablow | Digital Bus Stop - StumbleUpon So I am many things in this world, but an artist is not one of them. However, David Jablow is just that, and an impressive one no less. His Flickr stream is hands down one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen. Where Science, Art and Photography Intersect (25 photos) Silhouette with Matches Caleb Charland demonstrates lessons in physics and mathematics with his mind-blowing photography. Inspired by children's books of science experiments, he photographs everyday objects (like matches, pens and mirrors) in ways we've never imagined, often using multiple exposures to tell the story. In still others, like in Cube with Rule and Penlight, Caleb Charland sits in pitch black darkness and, with a penlight in his hand, traces the shape of a cube along a ruler. I caught up with Charland to ask him a few questions about his work. The beauty of it all is that there's an honesty to Charland's work. “I guess you could do it in Photoshop a lot quicker and easier but I enjoy the analog process” says Charland, “there is something to working within limits.” Cube with Ruler and Penlight Arcs with Arms and Candles Light Sphere with Right Arm and Cigarette Lighter Footprints with Matches Atomic Model Sun with Face Mirror Moon with Face Mirror Table with Mylar and Flashlight

Derek Gores Art deco custom motorcycle Every few months, a bike comes along that completely stops me in my tracks. Like this one: an Art Deco-influenced machine that could have come straight from the pen of Harley Earl. The bike caused a stir last month when it appeared at the Rhinebeck Grand National Meet, a popular motorcycle show held a couple of hours drive north of NYC. Word started to spread. And with the help of a few Bike EXIF readers, we’ve tracked down the details—and got some shots thanks to Grail Mortillaro of the excellent grassroots chopper blog Knucklebuster. The machine is apparently based on a 1930 Henderson—presumably the 100 mph (160 km/h) Streamline model—and was built in 1936 by a gent called O. As a marque, Henderson is unfortunately consigned to the annals of history, despite a short-lived attempt to revive the name in the late 90s.
