National Trust | Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum & Village Set in rural Wiltshire, Lacock village is famous for its picturesque streets, historic buildings and more recently as a TV and film location. The Abbey, located at the heart of the village within its own woodland grounds, is a quirky country house of various architectural styles, built upon the foundations of a former nunnery. Visitors can experience the atmosphere of the medieval rooms and cloister court, giving a sense of the Abbey's monastic past. The museum celebrates the achievements of former Lacock resident, William Henry Fox Talbot, famous for his contributions to the invention of photography. On a day out in Lacock there is plenty for you to see and do. It’s the perfect place to spend a whole day. On your visit you can discover the history of the Abbey and newly opened rooms, take a walk in the grounds and enjoy spring bulbs, summer borders and the greenhouse. We have a packed programme of events, talks, tours, clubs, exhibitions and activities in store for 2014, so don't miss out - get in early! We have a varied programme of talks and tours taking place for 2014, including a day of Civil War themed talks, such as 'The Battle of Highnam, 1643', and 'The twelve Gloucester portraits at 400 years' with Professor Robert Tittler, all the way from Canada. We also have the regular programme of monthly Culture Club talks, including 'Our Tudor Portraits' on 7th May, and 'Sir Charles Wheatstone' on 4th June. Welcome to Buscot Park The Faringdon Collection, which can be viewed at Buscot Park in Oxfordshire and our London property, is the result of a century of collecting works of art by the Lords Faringdon. It includes paintings by Rembrandt, Reynolds, Rubens, van Dyck and Murillo, and there is a small but important collection of drawings. British art, especially of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, is particularly well represented in the Collection, with some outstanding works by the Pre-Raphaelite artists Burne-Jones and Rossetti, and the present Lord Faringdon continues to acquire new works by contemporary artists. Requests for rights to reproduce all works in the Collection should be sent to the Estate Office, Buscot Park, Faringdon, Oxfordshire SN7 8BU.
