An Eco-Friendly Apartment in New York City A New York City family of five outgrew their Chelsea loft and instead of moving decided to purchase the identical apartment above theirs and merge the two. The owners brought in Design Development NYC to oversee the construction of the eco-friendly renovation and they incorporated a number of health-conscious systems and sustainable materials and with the help of architecture studio wUNDERground and Damon Liss Design handling the interiors, the family got the healthy urban home they desired. Both apartments were gutted and the work began to reconfigure the 3,600 square feet of space. Tutorial: Easy Tiny Envelopes Guest tutorial by Ruth Bleakley I discovered this envelope making method completely by accident when pulling soggy rain-soaked mail out of my leaky mailbox - I had a total *eureka* moment when the envelope I gingerly opened up completely unfolded at the seams revealing an envelope "template" perfectly. I've seen many envelope tutorials online, some offer downloadable templates, some show fancy paper folding techniques and some suggest specific measurements to create your own D.I.Y. envelopes. Pocket Edition Gameplay[edit | edit source] The objective of the game remains the same as its more developed PC and Console Edition counterparts, where players can build virtual realities in a sandbox-like environment. Like its counterparts, Pocket Edition also has survival elements present in other versions of the game such as brewing, hunger, and dimensions like the Nether but doesn't include any bosses in Pocket Edition yet. The multiplayer mode is cross-platform compatible between all touch-screen devices capable of running Pocket Edition.[25]
Reversible, Lined, Color-blocked TOTE I’ve got a new summer bag that I totally love. It’s nice and heavy-weight, the perfect size for all my stuff, annnnd…… It’s reversible! Yay! It’s good to have options. Here are the TOTE bag versions we’ve tried so far…. Build 3D paper letters from a nifty font Speaking of Fontstruct, I found something cool over there. Punched Out is a free font that allows you to type letters, print, cut, fold, and glue to make 3D forms. Created by Tobias Sommer, it's available for download at Dafont or Fontstruct. I gave it a try while watching TV. It's a little tedious, but the result is fun! I printed the letters in gray, scored along the center of the dashed lines, and folded so that the printing ended up on the inside of each letter.
sewing 101: making a pouf Add a burst of color to your room with this crafty pouf! At 17” wide and 10” deep, it’s large enough to serve as floor seating or a foot stool. (And if you have pets, I have a feeling they may want to make this their new favorite spot!) This project is a little challenging to sew, but it’s not too difficult, so if you’re comfortable with the basics of sewing, give it a try. You can make a colorwheel effect with a range of solid colors, or choose a variety of patterned fabrics for a louder patchwork effect. Medium-weight cottons work well for this design (check out quilting shops for great selections of solids and prints).
Paper Starburst Pendant Light So I had a different project that I was going to post today, an update version of my Book Pages Pendant Lantern from Project 19, but then I started working on this light idea, and I am so excited by the results I just couldn’t wait to show you guys! My inspiration and guide was this light from Design*Sponge, that I spotted on Pinterest. I really liked the idea, and I had a roll of white vellum lying around left over from college that I thought would look beautiful. So I started cutting triangles. And then I started glueing. Jewelry Organizer (and a giveaway) UPDATE PART 2: My Jewelry Organizer won the Elmer's Spring Creation Contest. I'm absolutely thrilled. Aside from receiving a visa gift card for winning, I also had the privilege of drawing 3 more winners from the comments via random.org to each receive an Elmer's DIY kit. The winners were: April, Barbara (VinoLuci), and Bestie.
How to make gift bags from newspaper When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall.
Hanging Storage Baskets by The Mother Huddle Fabric Cuts: From your fabric cut six 18½ x 28 inch pieces, and three 4 x 10 ½ inch pieces. You will then iron them onto you interfacing per it's instructions, and then cut out. Trust me, it's easier than cutting out the pellon and then ironing! As a side note, the ironing is the longest part of this project...if I had a teenager I would have paid top dollar to have them do it, just sayin'! Sewing:
1000 Paper Cranes Backdrop A few weeks ago I introduced you to one of my lovely Brides Laura who was new to the Diary of a Boho Bride feature. You can read all about Laura’s wedding plans HERE . In Laura’s’ introduction I explained that she is a BIG fan of the old DIY and after a few emails and a few sneaky pictures of stuff she had already created, it was clear that she was an even bigger fan of DIY than I first thought.
