How To Make It More Difficult for a Thief To Turn Off Location Services on the iPad Over the last few years there have been numerous happy ending stories about lost / stolen iPads and iPhones recovered thanks to Location Services and the Find My iPhone app within MobileMe. The app is now free as well, so it’s a great tool to have just in case your iPad or iPhone is ever misplaced or stolen. In order for Find My iPhone to work, Location Services must be turned on on the missing device; and many people have pointed out that a tech-savvy thief might quickly turn off the service once they get their hands on your iDevice. Luckily, there’s a way to make that a much bigger challenge for a thief, and it’s simple to implement. To make life a whole bunch harder for a thief who wants to turn off Location Services, you can use Restrictions from within the Settings app. – Launch the Settings app. – Go to the General section and look for Restrictions on the right hand side. – Once you enable restrictions, look at the second section listed – Allow Changes. Here, we'll show you an illustration of each step and then give you a description of how to draw it. Step 1: Draw three connected rectangles, with the center one being larger than the others. Extend these vertical lines past the tops of the rectangles. Step 2: Divide each triangle into fourths with straight lines starting at the peak. Step 3: Add columns with single, double, and triple vertical lines. Step 4: On the left-hand side of the cathedral, draw double arches. On the right-hand side of the cathedral, draw one double arch and two sets of arches with odd-shaped tops. Step 5: Shade the roof with diagonal lines and the windows with crisscross lines. Your drawing is finished! The Taj Mahal is a wonder of beauty and architecture.

Lines, lines, lines Project Britzpetermann Identity Experiments Client Personal We love searching for the right lines, lines, lines,… During our identity process, we created a visual for Britzpetermann. The goal was to express how basic forms emerge to new structures. During the process we were influenced by the art of Alexander Jokisch. Lines experiments We initally tested three approaches simulatneously to create new structures. We liked the results, but the output seemed a little too antiquated due to the emgering net structures. Second approach was to use attractors to steer the creation of lines. Third and final approach was to define blocks of parallel lines and composing them. We extended the basic form to a more curved line pattern by modifying the direction of the lines within a pattern block. Final step was to dig deeper into how a pen draws on paper. Finally we decided to combine the straight line pattern results with those from the curved lines as brushes in Photoshop. Links

Generative Art “… no one, not even Benoit Mandelbrot himself [...] had any real preconception of the set’s extraordinary richness. The Mandelbrot set was certainly no invention of any human mind. The set is just objectively there in the mathematics itself. The recent proliferation of 3D fractals, in particular the Mandelbox and Mandelbulb, got me thinking about the reality of these systems. I started out by citing Roger Penrose. In Penrose’s model, there are three distinct worlds: the physical world, the mental world (our perception of the physical world), and the cryptic Platonic world. Designer World by David Makin Roger Penrose is a highly renowned mathematician and physicist, and I value his opinions and works highly. Personally, I subscribe to the less exotic formalist view: that the mathematical truths are the theorems we can derive by applying a set of deduction rules to a set of mathematical axioms. 10 not so common Mac OS X shortcuts « Liberal Cynic You’ll be using these keys (myfirstmac.com) Many websites feature keyboard shortcuts for OS X. Most of them bury the good shortcuts under a sea of common ones that everybody knows and those that nobody will use and end up as trivia. So, I have compiled the ones I use regularly and weeded out those that seemed common knowledge. Some of these shortcuts are keyboard-alternatives to using the mouse/touchpad. UPDATE: Some of the browser-based shortcuts may not work with all browsers. You want to go to a particular website, but you’re too lazy to drag your mouse pointer to the address bar. For Windows users: Alt + d Of course, sometimes you want to go to the address bar just to copy the URL. The option key is also called alt. When I want to share something interesting I find online, the altruism is tempered by the effort it takes to copy the URL, open mail client (or web app), click compose, paste the URL in the body and await grateful responses.
