How to Make Simple Crochet Slippers « Crafts IMPORTANT NOTE: This pattern uses US crochet terminology. You can find the SLIPPER SIZE, YARN and HOOK specifications at the end of this article !!! (To see more of my patterns, please visit my ONLINE SHOP!) I am an addict. An addict for crochet slippers. It all began when I saw slippers similar to these somewhere on the internet. I loved them so much I couldn’t get their tempting image out of my head. All I needed was a pattern. But because I am terribly, terribly impatient, I found creating my own pattern quicker than looking for an official one on the web. And since I’m no crochet guru, the pattern turned out to be really simple. Actually, these slippers might be the simplest slippers in the universe. Or not. But they might. This is what I did… Round 1: 5 ch (chain stitch); join into ring with sl st (slip stitch) Round 2: 3 ch; 7 dc (double crochet stitch) into the center of the ring; join with sl st Round 3: 3 ch; 1 dc into first stitch; 2 dc into each next stitch; join with sl st Row 14: turn (!)
How to Make Your Own Lotions and Bath Products - Frugal Mom : Frugal Mom Making your own lotions and bath products is actually a lot easier than you might think. With a few ingredients purchased at your local supermarket or natural health store, you can be on your way to creating them right in your own kitchen. Homemade bath and beauty products usually cost much less than the ones you buy in the store, and you will have the benefit of knowing that the ingredients are safe for you to use on your body. You can make fabulous gifts for friends and family. Lotion Oil is a key ingredient in lotion, so the first step is choosing the oil that is best suited to your skin type. Another way to make your own lotion is to melt together 3/4 cup oil, 2 teaspoons of steric acid, and 1 teaspoon of beeswax. For a nice, fresh all-over moisturizer, mix Aloe Vera gel with a few drops of essential oil. Fluster Buster: 35 Uses for Rubbing Alcohol - WWII Series I'm having so much fun doing this series, I hope that you are enjoying it as much as I am. Week after week I'm more and more amazed at what these common household products can do. I could just kick myself for spending money on name brand products that only have one use. There is so much that can be learned from our mother's and grandmother's on how to live a frugal life. I think over the years, as our mother's and grandmother's joined the work force, they didn't have time or forgot to share some of these home remedies and tricks. This weeks WWII post for Rubbing Alcohol contains 35 uses. Not all of the items on this list are from WWII. Related WWII Posts: ** If, by some small miracle, you worked at Amway in Ada, MI and were the person my mother loaned the notebook to, please contact me. This post has been linked on:

The Convertible “Infinity” Dress: How it almost defeated me, and what you need to make one I made this thing. It’s pretty cool. It’s a convertible dress that’s basically a circle and two straps, so it’s really easy, inexpensive, and crazy versatile. It’s been around forever and everyone seems to love it (in fact, part of the reason I’m posting this is to answer some questions for people I’ve run into), and I can hardly believe how close I came to not making it at all. I first found the instructions at a blog called rostitchery, and then I came across a second set at Cut Out + Keep. So I bought some material, spread it out in the living room, cut out my pieces, and… …stopped. I didn’t understand the next step. Turn the skirt inside out? And what’s this about making them overlap each other? There’s, like, a band of fabric involved? What? I figured I was just being thick. So I folded up my circle and my straps and I put it all back in the bag it came in. And I went upstairs to watch TV. I was wearing my new dress after about half an hour. Select a stretchy knit with spandex in it.

Mud Scrub: DIY What is Mud Scrub you ask?? Well... basically it’s a sugar and coffee scrub. I love it! Especially because the coffee has such great benefits for your skin. Coffee and Caffeine are showing up all over in beauty products due to their tightening and antioxidant effects on the skin. Guess what! What you will need: 1 C Sugar (white, brown, cane) 5 TBSP Coffee grounds 1/4 C oil (veggie oil, almond oil, extra virgin olive oil, baby oil…) 1 tsp Peppermint Extract 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Mix: Mix sugar and coffee. Add small amounts of oil to the sugar/coffee mix until everything is coated. (You may not need the full 1/4 C, I didn’t use all of it) Add any fragrance you like. Mix well. and You’re done. If you find it a little watery from the oil, just add more sugar and or coffee. This recipe can be tweaked to your liking. A few tips: ◦ If you have sensitive skin, do not add coffee grounds and use brown sugar (as it is less abbrasive)

Mod Mood Quilt Along | daintytime ~ Sherri Lynn Wood Ever since my fascination with mood rings when I was a kid in the 70′s, I’ve been drawn to the symbolic, cultural, and emotional aspects of color. When I came across this mood-color chart (replicated above in hand-dyed fabrics) a light bulb went off… I don’t know about you but I can be moody. So I decided to document my emotions this summer in a quilt. Once a week when I’m in the studio, I will take the time to check in on how I’m feeling. You are invited to craft-along with me and make your own Modern Mood Quilt. It’s never too late to join the quilt-along.
Jalapeno Popper Chicken Empanadas Flaky pastry crust wraps itself around shredded chicken, cream cheese, cheddar, corn and jalapeños to make these golden brown beauties. A kind of play on jalapeño poppers. . .Only better ’cause there’s chicken, corn and pie crust involved. Where ever there’s buttery, tender pie crust you can find me. This recipe makes a lot of empanadas! About 32 of them. You can tuck them into lunch bags the next day or just snack on them all day long because everything else in your refrigerator pales in comparison. Fair warning. Empanadas may seem too involved to make but the filling is a cinch to throw together and forming the pies goes pretty fast. The filling is versatile! Shredded chicken, cream cheese, cheddar, corn and jalapenos fill flaky pastry crust for a play on jalapeno poppers. Ingredients *Pastry: 4 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled) 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon coarse salt 3/4 cups cold unsalted butter, cubed 1 + 1/4 cups ice water Filling: 1/3 cup sour cream 1/2 cup corn Notes
