There are 18 distinct letter shapes, which vary slightly depending on whether they are connected to another letter before or after them. Children's Books From unsophisticated plain alphabet books to glossily illustrated books for boys and girls, children’s books have undergone an extensive development from their first appearance to today. While at the beginning, religious reading matter dominated children’s books, pedagogical ideas on developing the mind steadily acquired prominence. Children’s reading activities gradually lost their compulsory character and became an entertaining pursuit. Authors attempted to merge moral and didactic instructions with entertaining content, and often adults enjoyed the tales just as much as the children. Over time, some works belonging to adult literature became reading matter for children, and many chapbooks were used as children’s books as well. Previously, orally communicated fairy tales had the strongest impact on children’s books.

Rebuilding a Legacy: The Gastrotypographical- assemblage Article by Richard Anwyl March 05, 2008 The original wall circa 1966 (top) and details of the gastro-typography (above). Each day our world changes, the old quickly vanishing, displaced by inspired new designs, new perspectives and brilliant imaginative creations. Society seemingly demands it, our fascination and appetite for embracing the new apparently endless. Who of us is not awed by the scale of Dubai's architecture, amused by the latest television commercial, drawn to the value and logic of the Prius Hybrid automobile or the aesthetic and functional design of Apple's iPhone? But what of the abandoned—what responsibility do we have for preserving our displaced creations, yesterday's symbols of inspiration, logic and creative ingenuity?
Amazing sculptures that look like they are in motion At first glance these objects look like they are in motion, almost like every object is falling down, especially the “strawberry blanket”. Mahabharata Manuscript illustration of the Battle of Kurukshetra The Mahabharata or Mahābhārata (Sanskrit: महाभारतम्, Mahābhāratam, pronounced [məɦaːˈbʱaːrət̪əm]) is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana.[1] Besides its epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kaurava and the Pandava princes, the Mahabharata contains philosophical and devotional material, such as a discussion of the four "goals of life" or purusharthas (12.161). Among the principal works and stories in the Mahabharata are the Bhagavad Gita, the story of Damayanti, an abbreviated version of the Ramayana, and the Rishyasringa, often considered as works in their own right. Traditionally, the authorship of the Mahabharata is attributed to Vyasa.
Indian minister: Maoists are a greater threat than Islamic terrorists The Indian government is preparing to deploy thousands of soldiers to defeat the country's growing Naxalite Maoist insurgency. Home minister P Chidambaram's description of the threat posed by the Naxalites was striking: The Home Minister told a media conclave in Delhi that the Maoists and Islamic militants represented the two biggest threats to India’s national security, but the former was the more serious. “Jihadi terrorism can be countered, usually successfully, if you are able to share information and act in real time,” he said. “But Maoism is an even graver threat.” The numbers back up Chidambaram's claim:
