The clever man tells, the wise man knows From Turning It Around: Causes and Cures for Today's Epidemic Social Problems, striving to show the difference by Bill Allin You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions. A clever man will always tell you answers. It may be arrogance, hubris or insecurity that causes him to seek a reaction from you. A wise man will not try to convince you of anything. A wise man will not proselytize you. Then we have those who are neither clever, wanting to convey to us how much they know, nor wise. They have learned from the ethics of business that they should "never let them see you sweat." While that is the apparent ethic of business, it's not a real one. The ones who do not ask questions don't try to learn. Yet they are always poor. A wise man will share what he knows. He has his own quest.

16 things I know are true but haven't quite learned yet There’s a difference between knowing something and living as if it were true. At the end of 2013, these truths are all lingering on that awkward threshold, for me anyway. 1) The sooner you do something, the more of your life you get to spend with that thing done — even though it takes less effort (or at least no more) than it will later. It’s the ultimate sure-thing investment and I pass it up all the time. 2) I never regret working out. 3) Whenever I’m playing with my phone I am only shortening my life. 4) Nothing makes me more productive and in-the-moment than a clean house. 5) Minute-for-minute, nothing I do is more rewarding than meditation. 6) Creative work is something that can be done at any time. 7) Acting the way you want to feel usually works. 8) Ninety-five per cent of my happiness comes from having a home, a functioning body and something to eat. 9) Our minds are geared to manage much less than we typically end up managing. Goodbye 2013, you were great. Photo by David Cain
Morning Pages Morning pages are three pages of writing (long hand) anything that comes to your head. Julia Cameron suggests that you make Morning Pages a practice that you keep every day while you are working through The Artist's Way, and hopefully, beyond. When I first read about Morning Pages, my first thoughts were...Everyday? 3 pages? Only by hand? She's GOT to be kidding! The point to Morning Pages isn't to write incredible, novel-quality prose. I compare Morning Pages to my morning shower. When you start doing Morning Pages, you'll be surprised at the things you find lurking within. Tips and Techniques ---Choose a format that will work for you • Start with a beat-up old spiral notebook if you are afraid of messing up the pages of a pretty journal. • If you are afraid of someone seeing what you have written, use a notepad. • If you dread the thought of writing long hand, use the computer. • Be choosy about your pen and paper. • Try one format. ---Choose a comfortable setting
The Superman Program: Training This program is novel for many reasons, and your muscles will respond well to it. That said, you’ll have to let go of some of the training dogma you’ve come to live by. For example, in Workout 1, you’ll notice that you first do a chest/back superset and then a superset of back and shoulders. Afterward, you hit chest again. Most guys would worry that the break from chest would cause it to deflate—but if anything, you’ll notice just as much pump in your pecs as you would otherwise.Another issue some will have is the number of sets per muscle group. For practical purposes, exercise pairings were chosen based on proximity of equipment. Superman Training Split Rep Counting This program build muscle two ways: by increasing weight while reps decrease, and then the opposite. *For those who want to continue for an additional four weeks Back to The Superman Program Homepage
