How To Become A Hacker Copyright © 2001 Eric S. Raymond As editor of the Jargon File and author of a few other well-known documents of similar nature, I often get email requests from enthusiastic network newbies asking (in effect) "how can I learn to be a wizardly hacker?". Back in 1996 I noticed that there didn't seem to be any other FAQs or web documents that addressed this vital question, so I started this one. A lot of hackers now consider it definitive, and I suppose that means it is. Still, I don't claim to be the exclusive authority on this topic; if you don't like what you read here, write your own. Free CSS3 Video Tutorials from Think Vitamin (Again) Back in March 2011 we reported that Think Vitamin were offering free access to their entire CSS3 Video Training Course for 24 hours only. I’m pleased to announce that this week I received an email from Alan Johnson at Think Vitamin letting me know that once again they’ve decided to offer free access to the entire CSS3 Video Training Course, minus the Master Class project – which is only available to paid members. However, this time there is no 24 hour time limit, with the videos being available for ‘the foreseeable future’ – however long that may prove to be. The collection includes over 50 videos, totalling over four hours of tutorials, ranging from CSS3 basics such as border-radius, box-shadow and CSS3 gradients, to more complex subjects including CSS3 selectors, transitions, animations and transforms. So, if you missed them the first time around, or struggled to watch all 51 videos in 24 hours, here they are again. The full series of videos on offer is as follows: Borders Gradients

How to Crack the Account Password on Any Operating System | Joe Tech This guest post was written by Blair Mathis from LaptopLogic.com – your premier source for the latest laptop software news and best laptop accessories. Computer passwords are like locks on doors – they keep honest people honest. If someone wishes to gain access to your laptop or computer, a simple login password will not stop them. Are you curious how easy it is for someone to gain access to your computer? Windows Windows is still the most popular operating system, and the method used to discover the login password is the easiest. Simply download the Ophcrack ISO and burn it to a CD (or load it onto a USB drive via UNetbootin). The computer will restart and Ophcrack will be loaded. Mac The second most popular operating system, OS X is no safer when it comes to password cracking then Windows. The easiest method would be to use Ophcrack on this, also, as it works with Mac and Linux in addition to Windows. If the Mac runs OS X 10.4, then you only need the installation CD. fsck -fy dscl .

Game Music Extraction Guide Introduction There was once a time when the music in a game was almost non-existent, or cringe-worthy at best. Most of the time it was electronic muzak of some kind and either you tuned it out mentally or turned it off it was so monotonous. There have been a few games which did have nice tunes, but nothing you'd really want to burn to CD and play repeatedly. Nowadays computer games are getting more and more like Hollywood movies. Game developers are throwing large sums of money into making sure all aspects of a game, not just the graphics engine or the packaging and manual are highly professional. Some standout game music for me this past year includes the soundtracks from Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Mafia, James Bond 007: Nightfire, Jedi Outcast, Battlefield 1942, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and NBA Live 2003.

Build PDF files dynamically with PHP Sometimes you need control over exactly how pages are rendered for printing. At times like those, HTML is not the best choice. PDF files give you complete control over how pages are rendered and how text, graphics, and images are rendered on the page. Sadly, APIs for building PDF files are not standard parts of the PHP toolkit. Now is the time to bring in a little help. When you search the web for PDF support for PHP, the first thing you are likely to find is the commercial PDFLib library and its open source version, PDFLib-Lite. Another choice is the Free PDF library (FPDF), which is native PHP. To demonstrate building PDF files dynamically, you'll use scores from women's roller derby tournaments.
