Warning: "Hanging in there" is destroying your health Sucking it up is highly overrated. We operate in a society where it seems as if there is some secret committee that hands out awards for people who work through any sickness, embrace sleep depravation or race through the work day without eating. It took me over 36 years to be able to admit to myself that no one was going to give me a gold star for constantly pushing myself forward. I started asking others why they felt compelled to soldier on, and there seemed to be a few common themes: parents’ expectations growing up, needing to prove oneself and fear of rejection or loss. Regardless of the cause, most people who struggle with easing up on themselves also wrestle with admitting weakness. When I look back on the years that I refused to admit weakness of any kind, I don’t think anyone could have convinced me to ease up. The only reason I finally changed my pace was a health issue that brought me to a grinding halt. The problem is that no one sees it coming. Adrenal fatigue is a real thing

I really need to hear you say it. “I don’t know. “Yeah.” I know it’s clichéd to quote “Sex and the City,” but it’s still so relevant. This episode revealed to girls like me what we’ve subconsciously known for a long time: We are the type of girls you should be with, but you don’t want to be with. Mr. She nods and laughs and is always comfortable. Carrie is complicated. Not that Natasha doesn’t care. I am not simple. I only want the best for myself and for my partner, so I will never just go along with some semblance of a mediocre, passionless relationship. An unevolved man or a boy will always want the simple girl. But, a real man knows that by being with a complicated girl, he will be better for it. This is the type of girl you should marry. Even stubborn Mr. Complicated girls are creative and, at times, emotional. No one will encourage you to follow your dreams.

Authors Who Skype with Classes & Book Clubs (for free!) Welcome to the Authors Who Skype with Classes & Book Clubs List! I’m Kate Messner, the children’s author and educator who maintains this site. I started it because I’ve found that virtual author visits are a great way to connect authors and readers, and I realize that many schools facing budget troubles don’t have the option of paid author visits. With that in mind, this is a list of authors who offer free 15-20-minute Q and A sessions with classes and book clubs that have finished reading one of their books. As an author, I offer Skype chats for all of my titles – check out the “Books” tab above for a list! If you’re interested in booking a “virtual visit” with me, please visit my author-Skype page for current availability and directions for requesting a visit! How does a Skype virtual visit work? 6 Life Lessons I Already Know, But Keep Forgetting (And Then Remembering Again) My definition of truth is “something you keep stumbling into, again and again, in different forms.” I, like most people, spent most of my life wanting a quick fix for my suffering. My biggest epiphany (and greatest disillusionment) was when I realized that all the life lessons I’d learned, all of the epiphanies I’d had about my healing and happiness, would have to be relearned again and again. Though I’ve seen the truth, I keep losing it and, then, having to find it again. I am, like everyone else, on a journey of my own, a journey where I encounter the same truths as everyone else in my own unique forms. Of course, I do (and will continue to) get lost. All I can do is laugh it off and find my way back to the path once again. Without further ado, here are the 6 life lessons that I already know, but keep forgetting (and then remembering again). 1. I used to think that happy, healed, successful people knew something I didn’t, some magic secret that made them 100% certain of themselves. 2. 3.
