I am frequently asked how I got into this line of work. “Wrong place, wrong time” is what I usually quip, but the reality is probably similar for many of us; it’s just something that I sort of fell in to. Although I inadvertently got relevant degrees and spent most of my graduate program researching and writing, I thought I was going to be a teacher. The class was held at a university extension site located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The thing that made this class different from anything offered by your local community college was the willingness of the two professors to be accessible for questions once we went back to town and back to our jobs.
