DIY Plantable Felt Garden Box

DIY Plantable Felt Garden Box
Hey, guys! It's Katie here. I recently made one of my most favorite toys for my kiddos and I just had to share! I have to admit, when this idea popped into my head I may have gotten a little overly excited. You see, one of our very favorite things to do as a family is tend to the garden, but since we live in the Midwest there has been none of that for many months now. Supplies: -A color variety of felt (purple, orange, green, and red were necessities for me)-Green pipe cleaners-Velcro-Brown paint & paint brush-Brown jersey cotton-Needle & thread/scissors Now, let's start with the garden box. Step One: Cover the entire box in brown paint. Step Two: In between coats of paint, you can start on your "dirt." Step Three: Flip right side out and cinch one end closed with a running stitch pulled tight and tied off. Step Four: Insert your "dirt" pillows and make sure they fill the box. Step Two: Cut out a circle for the top of your carrot, along with the leaves. To make the beets: Hey, guys!

A few days ago playing around with a paper clip I realize that if I opened and bended a bit, it turns into a mini hanger!! The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly: Upcycled Puppet - Twodaloo Last updated Tuesday, April 15, 2014 Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a fun puppet set that I made to go along with the classic rhyme “The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly.” Thanks to my ridiculously large stash of craft materials (I might be a bit of a craft hoarder), I was able to create this puppet and all of the pom pom animals from bits and bobs that I had on hand. “Old Lady” Puppet Empty plastic apple juice containerHot glue gunRed feltPoly-fil StuffingGoogle eyes (provided by CraftProjectIdeas.com)Craft wireFloral-print fabric scrapLace trim Pom Pom Animals Yarn in a variety of colorsFelt scrapsGoogle eyesManufactured pom poms (provided by CraftProjectIdeas.com)Pipe cleaners To create the Old Lady puppet, I first cut a square hole in the side of my plastic apple juice container with a box cutter (our kitchen scissors wouldn’t quite do the trick) to serve as her “mouth.” More Great Stuff For You Want to see another fun activity using old juice bottles?

Giant Paper Rose Flower If you loved the beautiful DIY wedding this morning and Nata’s gorgeous paper flower bouquets, you are in luck as Nata is sharing how she crafted them with us! She was inspired by a template created by Morgan Levine on Martha Stewart (as was I in the flowers I created for this styled shoot). I just love that this basic idea has inspired different brides to create their own version of giant paper flowers – you might remember these equally awesome giant paper flowers from this wedding I shared last year. :) Thanks so much Nata for sharing how you created your giant pink paper rose + special thanks to Studio Castillero for the photos of the DIY + her wedding! Materials (to make one giant rose) Step 1: Cut the petals Cut 5-6 teardrop petals and 15-6 heart-shaped petals from the petal colored crepe paper. IMPORTANT: Crepe paper is directional so it matters which way you’re cutting the paper. Repeat until all of your petals are cut Step 2: Cut the leaves + calyx Step 3: Make the rose stem

Kool-Aid Playdough Recipe That’s right we are making some homemade Kool-Aid Playdough today! How fun is this? This is an awesome and easy recipe. Your kids will love it and it is a perfect activity for the weekends and school breaks. The colors come from the different Kool-Aid flavors and the playdough smells yummy. Here is the recipe! Kool-Aid Playdough Author: Desiree Campbell Recipe type: Playdough Serves: 6 Ingredients 1 Cup Flour ¼ Cup Salt 1 Packet Kool-Aid ⅔ Cup Water *You will end up using between ½ and ⅔ cup. 1 Tb. Instructions Mix the flour, the salt, and the Kool-Aid together. Notes *Don’t feel like you need to use the full ⅔ Cup water. I thought it would be fun to put the playdough inside of Easter Eggs for Easter. If you want to do this make sure to first add tape to the inside of the eggs. The eggs come with small holes and you want to cover them so they become air tight, this way the playdough doesn’t dry. I found these clear small 2 oz. containers in the paper plate aisle at Wal-Mart. I hope you give it a try!

Freebie |Berry Basket Project Life Organizer Template May I love this style of berry basket, and since we don’t get them like that over here I was happy to find this free template from Julie Campbell of Stamped in His Image. Even happier that she is sharing not only a .studio file for the Silhouette, but also a SVG and PDF formats. She suggests using them for organizing Project Life supplies, or as a way to keep notes you want to remember. By Francine Clouden Rainbow Batik I saw this wonderful project at this great site Pink and Green Mama (a favorite of mine)- as soon as I saw the project, I just had to try it out with Holly as this was right up her alley. When I showed her what we were doing, she was very excited. We started with a white cloth napkin and if she enjoyed this project we would later tackle something larger like an apron or book bag. This was just the right size for now though. You take your Elmers Gel Glue and draw a design all over your fabric. This project, though it looks fancy, was amazingly easy and quick!

Tin Can Shelf Craft ZingZingTree I always have a new love and this month it’s this adorable Tin Can Shelf Craft. Not only do they look fantastic but they are practical and a great way to upcycle some of those tin cans we constantly throw away. Paint your tin can inside and out using either water based enamel or acrylic paint. Both dry really quickly and leave a slight shine when dry. I used enamel paint for the colour and white acrylic paint for the inside both of which only needed three layers. When dry use a small tack to attach the tin can shelf to the wall. The perfect little place for putting all those cute Zelfs, Moshi’s, Trash packes etc. And small enough to leave little accents all over the house. This was part of a fab Tin Can Craft Hangout. Bandage Lightning Bugs Archives This was one of those crafts that I was giddy about doing as soon as the idea came to me. I bought these bandages for my son to play doctor with but forgot I had them. While brainstorming and playing with them in my hands I realized they’d show up great on black paper! My son had no interest in doing this, he just wanted to cover himself with the bandages and ask for kisses, but I know other kids will love it. Gather your materials. You will need 2 yellow bandages for each bug and one of another color, we chose orange but any color with enough contrast will work. Lyrics The little caterpillar snuggled on a leaf, Spun a little chrysalis and then fell asleep, While she was sleeping she dreamed that she could fly, When she woke up she was a butterfly! Bug Books ” The Very Grouchy Ladybug” by Eric Carle is more than a cute book about a crabby bug.
