Homemade Chocolate Syrup Recipe I love it when I can easily make something at home and it turns out to be just as good or better than the more expensive store-bought kind. I’ve been wanting to try some homemade chocolate syrup. The basic recipe is very simple, but there are a few variations of it, so the other day I decided to experiment with them and have a chocolate syrup taste test. Not a shabby way to spend the afternoon! Two Minute Mug Brownie I’ve found myself without any chocolate in the house – and in desperate need of some – while watching the Grammys this weekend, and so during the commercials I mixed up a dense, fudgy mug brownie without missing any of the show. Richer and more intense than the average mug cake, this ultra-simple brownie for one is totally divine. Use unsweetened cocoa powder – it has much more chocolate flavor than sweetened drink mixes like powdered Quick.

Peanut Butter- S’Mores Turnovers Peanut Butter- S’Mores Turnovers I’m not much of a camper. My husband often takes my son on camping trips, and I happily stay behind and thank the gods for our bug-free house, cozy bed and well-stocked kitchen. I always send them off in comfort… marinate a little meat for them to throw on the grill, pack up some convenience foods and bake a few goodies too. When they return from their camping weekends, I hear mostly about the evenings sitting around the campfire. Story telling, snuggling in blankets, singing songs and roasting marshmallows for S’Mores seem to be recurring favorites.

I'm the kind of person who cannot go through even one day without consuming at least two servings of chocolate. OK. Maybe I've survived before with just one (possibly zero if my peanut butter intake was high enough that day). The point is, I'm addicted to desserts. My little guy had some friends over the other day and of course with a mom who is a baker, the expectation is dessert will not only be good but it will be fun. Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies My little brother is a college hockey player in a neighboring state, who happened to break his arm pretty badly the other night during a game. I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say it warranted a phone call to me at 1am from my extremely worried parents, who, thankfully happened to be at the game and were able to go with him to the hospital overnight. They ended up bringing him back home for the weekend so he could rest and relax. Since he’ll be out for the rest of the season, he’s pretty bummed.

Chocolate Chip Cookies by Baked I hope that everyone had a fun Valentine’s Day. I told Kramer that I was going to the gym after work, but instead, I managed to get home before he did and whip up one of our favorite dishes, orange chicken, for the special occasion. It may not be the most romantic meal, but it’s really good and I rarely make it (plus, it’s pretty easy to make after work). We enjoyed a quiet night together after dinner, watched some quality episodes of 30 Rock, and were asleep by 10:30 PM.
