Vertical Farms Sprouting Up All Over The World Could Bring Food Local Imagine walking into a high rise building only to find out it was actually a vertical farm. As odd as this sounds, this type of building is popping up in different areas of the world as the idea promises new, environmentally friendly and rapid ways to feed growing populations. The first commercial vertical farm was built in Singapore by Jack Ng who is an entrepreneur looking to supply food to Singapore’s densely populated city without having to buy a lot of highly priced land around the city. His vertical farm method is energy efficient, simple and mixes some ancient practices with new ones. The tower is modern and clear, so it looks great and allows sunlight into the the building for the plants. The produce grown in the building is sold under the name SkyGreens. In March of this year the largest vertical farm is set to open up in Scranton, New York. Growing locally is certainly the most ideal way to feed the world. What are your thoughts on vertical farms? New York schools to play 'big brother' and track movements of kids in order to fight obesity 'When you get into monitoring people’s biological vital signs, that’s a pretty intrusive measurement'New York district following in the steps of New Jersey and Missouri By Meghan Keneally Updated: 17:07 GMT, 16 January 2012 Parents and civil rights activists are furious at the new program that will allow school administrators to monitor the heart rates, exercise, and sleep schedules of students using electronic bracelets. Working it out: Long Island students are going to be the latest to wear electronic monitoring watches to help track their physical activity throughout the day
Mental Health: Oppositional Defiant Disorder Why do I need to register or sign in for WebMD to save? We will provide you with a dropdown of all your saved articles when you are registered and signed in. It's not unusual for children -- especially those in their "terrible twos" and early teens -- to defy authority every now and then. They may express their defiance by arguing, disobeying, or talking back to their parents, teachers, or other adults. When this behavior lasts longer than six months and is excessive compared to what is usual for the child's age, it may mean that the child has a type of behavior disorder called oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). ODD is a condition in which a child displays an ongoing pattern of uncooperative, defiant, hostile, and annoying behavior toward people in authority. Many children and teens with ODD also have other behavioral problems, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, mood disorders (such as depression), and anxiety disorders. Symptoms of ODD may include:
Head Of Epilepsy Foundation Wants Cannabis Oil Available The chairman of the board of the Epilepsy Foundation is fighting for access to marijuana oil on a national level. Desperate families are moving to Colorado in search of relief for their children’s seizures. “Charlotte’s Web” is a strain of marijuana grown in Colorado that is named for Charlotte Figi. Charlotte and others with severe epilepsy have found relief from seizures by ingesting the plant’s oil. It is marijuana that is low in THC but rich in cannabidiol or CBD. “There is enough evidence to suggest we should really try and study this,” said father Warren Lammert. His daughter, Sylvie, had her first seizure at 9 months old. “She had an implanted medical device, she’s tried the ketogenic diet but we haven’t found anything that will control her seizures,” said Lammert. Sylvie is now 16 and despite numerous treatments still lives with daily seizures. “She’s delayed and she’s in a special school,” said Lammert. However most other families don’t have that opportunity. Observations On the Dose and Administration of Ascorbic Acid... Frederick R. Klenner, M.D., F.C.C.P. [J.A.N.] Editor’s Note: Because of the unusually high amounts of ascorbic acid used in Dr. “To the Editor of the ICAN Journal: This will confirm that all ‘quantity’ factors given in my paper are correct and can be confirmed from hospital and medical office records. “Recently the FDA has published a ‘warning’ that too much soda-ascorbate might be harmful, referring to the sodium ion. To understand the chemical behavior of ascorbic acid in human pathology, one must go beyond its present academic status either as a factor essential for life or as a substance necessary to prevent scurvy. An Academic View Of The Global Money Scam For all those that are still new to the global money scam, here is a simple entry level explanation from a slightly different perspective - an academic perspective. Written by Michael Reiss (guest author) on . Posted in Economic Analysis, Theory, Understanding Money & Debt Professor Hyman Minsky once wrote “Banking is not money lending; to lend, a money lender must have money. “Banking is not money lending”? Most people imagine that money is simply a system of government-created tokens (physical or electronic) that get passed form person to person as trade is carried out. Say that Mick wanted to borrow £10 from Jim. Creation (out of nothing. So far this has all been hypothetical, but to see a non-spendable IOU get converted into a spendable one in the real world, look no further than the process of getting a “bank loan”. So there you have the layman’s explanation. “The way monetary economics and banking is taught in many, maybe most, universities is very misleading”.
Injectable Vitamin C: Effective Treatment for Viral and Other Diseases 10 Reasons Why EarthShips Are F!#%ing Awesome Earthships are 100% sustainable homes that are both cheap to build and awesome to live in. They offer amenities like no other sustainable building style you have come across. For the reasons that follow, I believeEarthships can actually change the world. See for yourself! When people hear about sustainable, off-the-grid living, they usually picture primitive homes divorced from the comforts of the 21st century. Each Earthship is outfitted with one or two greenhouses that grow crops year-round, no matter the climate. Even the most arid of climates can provide enough water for daily use through only a rain-harvesting system. The most brilliant piece of engineering in the Earthship is their ability to sustain comfortable temperatures year round. This phenomenon results from the solar heat being absorbed and stored by ‘thermal mass’ — or tires filled with dirt, which make up the structure of the Earthship. Plasma Vitamin C Levels Are Decreased and Correlated With Brain Damage in Patients With Intracranial Hemorrhage or Head Trauma + Author Affiliations Correspondence to Maria Cristina Polidori, MD, Institute of Physiological Chemistry I, Heinrich-Heine University, D-40225 Düsseldorf, Germany. E-mail polidori@uni-duesseldorf.de Abstract Background and Purpose—Free radical hyperproduction may play an important role in brain hemorrhage and ischemia/reperfusion injury. Methods—We measured plasma levels of vitamin C (ascorbic acid, AA), uric acid (UA), vitamin E (α-tocopherol), and ubiquinol-10 in 13 patients with ICH and 15 patients with HT on the day of the brain injury and subsequently every other day up to 1 week. Results—ICH and HT patients had significantly lower plasma levels of AA compared with healthy subjects, in contrast to plasma levels of UA, α-tocopherol, and ubiquinol-10. Conclusions—These findings suggest that a condition of oxidative stress occurs in patients with head trauma and hemorrhagic stroke of recent onset. Key Words: One possible consequence of excess ROS formation is lipid peroxidation. Results

A Randomized Trial of Replacement Antioxidant Vitamin Therap... : Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Vitamin C and human wound healing Clinical studies provide evidence that wound healing in subjects judged not deficient in vitamin C can be significantly accelerated with supplements of this nutrient above the recommended daily allowance (RDA). The authors administered daily dosages of 500 to 3,000 mg., which is roughly 8 to 50 times the RDA of 60 mg., to subjects recovering from surgery, other injuries, decubital ulcers, and leg ulcers induced by hemolytic anemia. Genetic impairment of collagen synthesis has also been observed to be responsive to ascorbic acid supplementation in an 8-year-old boy with Type VI Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
