Muddy Buddies Recipe
I LOVE LOVE LOVE when some of the most yummiest treats are also the most easiest to make. Ten years ago my friend Nancy gave each woman in our small group a beautifully packaged container of Puppy Chow aka Muddy Buddies. This was the first time I had ever had this “crazy good” treat. From the first bite I was hooked but also intrigued by what it was made of.
The Bread
Whenever I have a friend or family member over for dinner, they will ask the following question: “Are you making The Bread?” And I always smile and say: “Yes. I am making The Bread.” I smile because it’s a foregone conclusion that I will be making The Bread.

Extra-fluffy with creamy, custard-like middles — ricotta pancakes are something you need to try tout suite! They make an elegant alternative to your usual Saturday morning fare, and are a good excuse for adding ricotta to your shopping list. Most ricotta pancake recipes have you separate the eggs and whip the whites, folding them into the batter at the end. I did the same, and when I ran my finger around the edge of the bowl and licked off the batter (come on, you do that, too), it almost bubbled in my mouth.
2 Stews: Cheesecake In A Mug
I was telling a friend about my 1-2-3 Chocolate Microwave Mug Cake and kept thinking there had to be equally easy and delicious alternatives. I had some cream cheese and sour cream in the refrigerator and played around with a microwave cheesecake. The first time I overcooked it, but the second time was a charm. It was creamy and delicate from the first bite. This cake is great for people at work, in dorms or if you just want cheesecake...fast! My Cheesecake in a Mug, is so good and versatile that you can have a different topping each day...well, maybe each time you make it!
Confections Blog
It’s eight-thirty in the morning at Magnolia Pub and Brewery, the glass windows are clouded and dripping with precipitation while the fog is cool and sits low in the upper Haight-Ashbury neighborhood where our newly favorite pub is located. Beer drinking is relatively new to me, call me a snob, most of my legal age drinking years had been dedicated to spirits and wine – I would not touch beer if I were stranded on a deserted island with mountains of kegs as my only means to hydrate … let me explain, my first and traumatic relationship with beer was in high school back in Hawaii where I grew up – Primo beer; I liken this fluid to foamy, yellow, sour water. I recall swigging bottles of Primo with the rigor of an old sailor only to be spent for the rest of the evening into the early morning over a toilet bowl as the world around me spun like a carnival ride gone berserk! Mind you I’m talking a million years ago in my youth – when I knew nothing about anything. Magnolia story continues…
Kiss Pies
Only 5 days before Christmas! Woohoo, is everyone ready? What a great time of year.
Traditions
I love figuring out new traditions to make with my own little family. I definitely found one for General Conference on Sunday morning. My sis-in-law (SIL) Dana was telling me about how often she goes to my friend Hannah's blog and tries out her recipes. She was telling me about all the yummy ones she has tried, including the sticky bun breakfast ring and told me I had to try it.
Big Red Kitchen: Cinnamon Roll Pancakes
The original and unique Cinnamon Roll Pancake recipe created by Robin Sue! My little Deven loves pancakes and wants me to make them all the time, but I don’t often enough. Late last night my friend had spotted this Cinnamon Bun Pancake Recipe from the blogisphere and posted it on her Facebook status suggesting for her daughter to make them. Wow, Cinnamon Bun Pancakes, that would be a winner in my house too. So I went to bed with pancakes dancing in my head.
Cravings - Holiday Cookies
Now that it's December, I am officially in the mood for some delicious holiday sweets! I love having lots of sweet little cookies in my kitchen for guests who might pop in at this festive time of year (and of course for myself while I'm working at my little desk!) I used to have a great book of holiday cookie recipes, but somehow it seems to have gotten lost when we moved last year. Every recipe had a little bit of history with each cookie, and I just loved telling the story of where each cookie came from as my friends and family enjoyed each little, teeny bite :) Now that the season is upon us again, I am trying to put together a great little list of beautiful holiday cookies that I can whip up while I'm bored (yea, cause that happens!)
How to Make Marshmallow Fondant
This time I decided to make it with those mini fruit flavored marshmallows. I had to sort them by colour first. I figured they would add a little bit of flavor to the fondant so I wouldn't have to add much flavoring oil. I use gel colours to dye my fondant but regular food colouring will work too. You won't be able to get really dark colours without making your fondant sticky, but for lighter colours you can just even it out with more icing sugar. I also had lemon oil and coconut flavoring on hand.. oh la la the value brand (which still works fine).

Lemon Lemon Lemon Loaf
BUT, there was also teatime. Every day. Without fail. It was a small light at the end of the tunnel that was my day: breakfast, torture, lunch, torture, TEATIME, torture, PUB. (The pub helped, too.)
