Technology SAMR Model for Administrators - Part 1: Staff Presentations The introduction of wireless networks and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs in classrooms has increased the demand for teachers to effectively utilize technology worldwide. We have seen an emphasis placed on technology-centered professional development to ensure that classroom educators are best prepared for these challenges. Throughout this process, teachers may feel that they are at the forefront of professional development while administrators may feel a little behind the power curve. Throughout this series, I will focus on the Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition (SAMR) model highlighting different tasks that school-based administrators may face during the school year. These tasks will be broken down and explained using the SAMR model in the following order: Part 1: Staff Presentations Part 2: Community Interaction Part 3: File Management Part 4: Classroom Evaluations Part 5: Staff Input Lead by Example Staff Presentations Determine the Purpose Substitution

15 Rules of Netiquette for Online Discussion Boards [INFOGRAPHIC] - Online Education Blog of Touro College “Netiquette” refers to rules of etiquette that apply to online communication. Follow these 15 rules of netiquette to make sure you sound respectful, polite, and knowledgeable when you post to your class’s online discussion boards. Before posting your question to a discussion board, check if anyone has asked it already and received a reply. Just as you wouldn’t repeat a topic of discussion right after it happened in real life, don’t do that in discussion boards either.Stay on topic – Don’t post irrelevant links, comments, thoughts, or pictures.Don’t type in ALL CAPS! If you do, it will look like you’re screaming.Don’t write anything that sounds angry or sarcastic, even as a joke, because without hearing your tone of voice, your peers might not realize you’re joking.Always remember to say “Please” and “Thank you” when soliciting help from your classmates.Respect the opinions of your classmates. RULE OF THUMB: If you wouldn’t do or say something in real life, don’t do it online either.
S.A.S.S.Y. SAMR: Toolkit for Educators to Transform Instruction TCEA is upon us and clearly SAMR is a hot topic. I had the pleasure to meet the father of the SAMR model (check out recaps of his sessions HERE), Dr. Ruben Puentedura ***, last year at iPad Summit and have spent the past few months digesting, research, and curating SAMR resources for teachers. (Don’t Miss “Groovy Graphics in the iClassroom”!) Met Dr, Ruben with Fellow ADE’s: Michelle Cordy, Lisa Johnson, Dr. In order to provide teachers with an easy to follow framework to digest and apply the model to their own practices and instruction, I decided to create my own acronym, S.A.S.S.Y. based on an adaptation of Dr. S: STUDENTS and StorytellingA: Awesome ASSESSMENT (Teacher-Driven and Student-Driven)S: SOCIAL (Voice and Collaboration)S: SEEK: Research and Visualization (Finding it, Citing it, and Displaying it)Y: YOU: Think about Your Own Thinking… Once the acronym was in place, I built an infographic and then thing linked app-tivities and instructional resources on top of it.

1:1 in the Math Classroom: The SAMR Model The hot new topic at Waukesha North High School is the SAMR model. This model was developed by Dr. Ruben Puentudura to guide teachers with integrating technology to increase overall student understanding, success, and achievement. The four levels of the SAMR model are as follows: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. In the substitution level, the technology acts as a direct substitute. The next level is augmentation. In the modification level the technology allows for significant task redesign. In the redefinition level the technology allows us to do things that were never before possible. notability | ICT at Newington Authors Note: After plenty of testing note taking apps Notability by Gingerlabs really stands out by head and shoulders to me. The inking is superb and there are great features that I find very useful. Interestingly, I have recently noticed that I no longer carry my notebook around when it never used to leave my side. Notability is SUPERB! There are great content tools and options for each. In a recent update Notability also allows for recording of audio that is linked to your interactions within your document. Our Review and Tutorial: We have made a review and tutorial of the Notability app showing its strengths and features and how to get the most out of the app. Uses of Notability for Learning: There is the obvious one of . .. …. arghh taking notes! Proposition 01.
