Cooking for One: 29 Insanely Easy, Healthy Meals You Can Make in Minutes
In the kitchen, one can be the loneliest number. The fear of leftover fatigue or doing the math to modify recipes for a single serving (why do so many recipes make so much at once?) can drive anyone to order out or eat a sad bowl of cereal rather than cooking. After all, spending time making a dish that requires pans and utensils isn’t worth it when you’re dining alone, right? Kitchen Stories ENG Homemade Cheesy Chili Dip Waell, looks like we’re going to have to stuff our faces with favorite game day foods two posts in a row. Hmm. Darn. When it comes to party food game food snack food etc, I have a deep and borderline inappropriate love for cheesy dips bubbling away inside of little mini Crockpots. So enter Homemade Cheesy Chili Dip: it starts with a made-from-scratch super quick chili with spicy sausage and black beans that is so deliciously Tex-Mex flavored because I must have all the spice in my mouth right now, and it’s stirred all up to the happy place of dip land with a creamy *real food* cheese sauce involving butter, flour, milk, and cheese AS CHEESE SAUCE SHOULD. I had actually not really wanted to post this recipe today (too much game food all at once = annoying) but I’ve been really trying to make some awesome desserty-type things this week and the bottom line is that they have not been awesome and therefore they cannot be posted today. For example. So, uh…. are you mad at me? I knew you would.

Spaun, the new human brain simulator, can carry out tasks (w/ video) (Phys.org)—One of the challenges of understanding the complex behavior of animals is to relate the behavior to the complex processes occurring within the brain. So far, neural models have not been able to bridge this gap, but a new software model, Spaun, goes some way to addressing this problem. The Semantic Pointer Architecture Unified Network (Spaun) is a computer model of the human brain built by Professor Chris Eliasmith and colleagues of the University of Waterloo in Canada. Spaun is presented with a sequence of visual images in eight separate tasks. These tasks are simple, but they capture many features of neuroanatomy and physiology, including abilities to perceive, recognize and carry out required behaviors. The most surprising feature about Spaun, according to Prof. Spaun is more similar to the human brain than previous models, Eliasmith said, and it could therefore be used in the study of some brain disorders. The research paper was published in the journal Science.

Obscure Animal Alphabet: Axolotl to Zebu | Uglorable! This is my first attempt at creating an animal alphabet. I’ve tried to make sure everything on the list is somewhat obscure, but also somewhat notable! You probably know about some of these creatures, but did you know about all of them? Let me know! Some descriptions are shorter than others because either there isn’t that much information on them, or just because I might have forgot to put more information in. A is forAxolotl The axolotl is a neotenic species of salamander, a salamander that does not go through metamorphosis. made famous, the two are not closely related, the texas cave salamander coming from a lungless family of salamanders. Axolotls are critically endangered in the wild, being only native to two lakes, one of which has been drained by humans to prevent flooding.
