Cookie Cutter Soaps Tired of the same old soap molds? Get creative with cookie cutters! You Will Need: Instructions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

life in general: yarn bowls Okay, here's how it goes. It's super easy and just a little bit messy. ;) Supplies: yarn + glue + bowl Prep: Cover a bowl with plastic wrap. Or use a balloon as your form. (I think these look pretty.) Method: Dip yarn into glue. *Once the bowls were constructed I considered brushing on some liquid starch (just to help stiffen the yarn) but I didn't get around to it. The kids had a fun time with this project. The other two needed help from time to time. The other one loved the project, repeatedly complimented everyone's "awesome" bowls, and made a good effort until she ran out of steam and I finished the bowl. Bottom line . . . it kept them busy for an hour, yes there was lots of hand-washing and wiping but the mess was contained to 1/2 of the dining table (not too bad), and they all ended with a project they were proud of.

How To Make Bubble Paper/Art | DIY Maven Hand me a paintbrush and a piece of paper, and I’ll start to hyperventilate. It’s not the paper that does it. It’s the paintbrush. This means I’ll try just about anything to create original paper/art images using just about anything BUT a paintbrush. Here’s the complete list of what I used to make my bubble paper: bubbles ($1 for 3 at the Dollar Store)printer paper (although watercolor paper would be super cool too)a sinka small container to mix the ink and bubbles Here’s what I did: Mixed about 1 part ink to 4 parts bubbles in a small container. Laid the paper in the bottom of a dry sink. Started blowing bubbles over the paper. Now, there’s not much control here. Then something like this happens, and life is good. I used one such bubble burst to make this card, centering the burst inside the cut area. I’m definitely going to do this again using different colored inks. Like this: Like Loading...

Kumihimo - tutorial; flat braid with hearts I thought I´d post a tutorial of a kumihimo pattern; flat 12-tread braid with heart pattern: For about 2 bracelets (finished length 30+ cm), I used 6 x 1,20 m lengths; 5 x 1 mm cords in dark blue satin and 1 x 2mm cord in pink satin. The thicker cord might be a bit shorter if you want. Lay the threads double and place the 12 threads in the starting position as shown under. This is the starting position of the threads. First take the inner right thread in the 12 o´clock position and move it down below the two threads on the left side, in the 9 o´clock position. Take the inner left thread in the 12 o´clock position and move it down below the two threads on the right side, in the 3 o´clock position. Move the two top threads closer, replacing the moved threads. Now, take the inner left thread in the 6 o´clock position and move it up above the two threads on the right side, in the 3 o´clock position. Do the same move with the inner right thread in the 6 o´clock position to the left side.

Paper gems This has got to be one of my favourite projects to date…which is a good job because I nearly broke my brain putting the templates together!! I’m not so good at maths and figuring out angles (my lovely Mum is a retired maths teacher so I should know better!). By the way this project is quite fiddly so more aimed at grown-ups or older kids. My paper gems were very influenced by these wonderful crayons (via Deborah’s Pinterest board). You can use these paper gems as hanging decorations (for your Christmas tree) or you can incorporate them into a mobile or garland. If you spray them lightly on one side they look very pretty and a bit more crystal-like! If you love crystals and gems as much as I do then check out these cool projects: Home-made rock candyHome grown geodes Edited to add: Check out this great advent calendar idea using my paper gems. Kids craft coming up next week…I absolutely promise this time! I’ve been a total slacker on email lately…but intend to catch up over the next week. !!
