10 Ways to Improve Your Website Design Nowadays, a company’s website is similar to the first handshake with someone—it represents the good (or the bad) start of a potential cooperation. However, a handshake is more than a form of greeting. A handshake establishes trust while giving you the power to diminish the negative first impression. The same thing goes for a website. A website should be as strong as a CEO’s handshake. What does this mean? No matter the market, companies are becoming more and more competitive and customers/consumers more and more impatient. In a study Web design: A key factor for the website success from 2009, authors Carlos Flavián, Raquel Gurrea and Carlos Orús put an emphasis on the importance of the website design. Authors stated that a good website design has an impact on online consumer's perception and behavior. There are many benefits of putting an effort into improving your website design: If you are interested in making a good first impression, be sure to follow these 10 steps.

LukeW | Why Separate Mobile & Desktop Web Pages? As use of mobile devices continues to skyrocket across the globe, we're seeing more ways to tackle the challenge of creating great Web experiences across multiple devices. But which approach is right for any given project? In an effort to help answer that question, I've compiled the reasons we opted to use a dual (separate mobile and desktop) template system to build our start-up, Bagcheck. I'm a big proponent of Responsive Web Design so I often get asked why we built a "separate" mobile experience for Bagcheck instead of using fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries to deliver a responsive Web solution to our mobile audience. For us site performance and speed of development were crucial. So many of the decisions we made were designed to make both of these as fast as possible. We built Bagcheck as a command-line interface first. It's also worth noting that, while competent in code, I am primarily a designer. 10 Incredible Text Masking Effects Examples Text masking was quite a popular technique in 2018. Developers experminted with various layers (the most popular was, of course, the video background) and different typefaces. Today we are witnessing a bit of decline in usage because there are many other options. However, it is still impressive and lets you create something incredible effortlessly. For example, just take a look at Stratego Branding: The Web Designer ToolboxUnlimited Downloads: 500,000+ Web Templates, Themes, Plugins & Design Assets Here, the design team uses masking to make the slogan weightier, stronger and more attractive. They managed to make three simple words the focus of attention, easily separating it from the background and content. Stratego Branding is a representative example of a website that turns simplicity of solution into an advantage. Therefore, if you are looking to establish serenity in a home area but you do not want it to be all static, oversimplified and dull, then text masking is a viable solution.
