In part, because it makes everything it touches shimmer with deliciousness. It's magic like that. Technically, it's a riff on a chimichurri sauce - one that veered off the rails in a big way. Much tweaking has rendered it a distant second cousin.

Agar FlakesDuring my Ayurvedic training I learned to cook with agar flakes, they are a wonderful thickener for gluten free desserts such as custards and gelatinous desserts. Agave NectarThese days agave is a hotly debated ingredient; It is adored by some (who consider it a sugar substitute) and scorned by others. You decide… Check out my agave nectar recipes. The Infamous Jacques Torres Chocolate Chip Cookies Now, I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that I swear by. I love it, I think it is incredible, and I haven’t changed my mind about that. However, as much as it pains me to say it, these chocolate chip cookies by Jacques Torres are absolutely, without a doubt, the best chocolate chip cookies that I have ever made or tasted in my entire life. I guess that’s why they call him Mr. Chocolate! These are a chocolate chip cookie of another color, that’s for sure.
& 100 Calorie Pack Even though I have had some rough egg experiences lately…the century egg, and little birdie fetus…I have not given up on one of my favorite foods. The other morning, we had our friend Zach and one of his friends over for breakfast. Zach was our travel partner in Cambodia, and he is moving to South Africa on Monday, so we are trying to soak up as much Zach time as possible! Gavin made some delicious whole wheat banana’s foster pancakes (I think I should enlist him has a guest blogger to share his pancake secrets!) And they are tasty, with a delicate nutty flavor. But how to get more flax into your diet? Calzone! - StumbleUpon Uh-oh…this calzone shouldn’t be a calzone. Nope. It totally should be a picture of a pizza…topped with layers of ricotta, melted mozzarella, cubes of roasted butternut squash and broccoli rabe. That was the plan. This pizza was supposed to convince me that broccoli rabe isn’t this gross, bitter leaf situation…well that failed. Coffee-Scented Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Coffee Buttercream OK, I’ll admit… I totally didn’t understand the “scented” cupcake thing until now. You always hear those fancy bakers from posh cupcakeries talk about pistachio-scented this and almond-scented that. And you know what? It used to sound silly to me. But now I totally get it. In my Google quest to figure out what makes a really moist chocolate cake, I added a little secret ingredient to these cupcakes (the ones I baked into mason jars with my leftover batter).

And you’ve probably been counting down the days until The Hunger Games is released on DVD (Hint: it’s this Saturday, August 18).
