Portrait of a Dancer: Lauren Cuthbertson “I’m interested in those physical sacrifices a ballet dancer has to make,” says British director Andrew Margetson of his film starring Royal Ballet Principal Lauren Cuthbertson, the first in our three part collaborative series with the iconic London company. “The fact that behind the sublime beauty and effortless grace of a prima ballerina is the inevitable pain, injury and physical damage that performing at this level entails.” “I’m interested in those physical sacrifices a ballet dancer has to make” Cuthbertson trained at The Royal Ballet Lower and Upper Schools, joining The Royal Ballet in 2002, and after her promotion in 2008, she became the youngest female Principal dancer in the company. “Behind the sublime beauty and effortless grace of a prima ballerina is the inevitable pain and injury” Portrait of a Dancer premieres every Wednesday; part two starring Steven McRae launches September 23. Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr. Harvard Medical School professor and researcher, Robert J. Waldinger sat down with TEDxBeaconStreet to discuss what makes "the good life," according to a 75-year-long research project he is now leading. (TEDxBeaconStreet, Photo: Dave Rezendes) My grandmother once told me this little story that stuck with me. One afternoon at a doctor’s appointment, her doctor moved her large purse to another chair and remarked how heavy it was. My grandparents lived modestly, still in the narrow two-bedroom rowhouse where she’d raised her family since her husband returned from World War II. My grandmother knew what Harvard researchers have since confirmed: Relationships are the key to a happy life. [Your relationships are just as important to your health as diet and exercise] Robert Waldinger, a Harvard psychiatrist, took over the more than 75-year-long Grant Study in 2003, becoming the fourth person to run it. Waldinger felt it was important to do it. Related:

The Intellectual Yet Idiot The Intellectual Yet Idiot is a production of modernity hence has been accelerating since the mid twentieth century, to reach its local supremum today, along with the broad category of people without skin-in-the-game who have been invading many walks of life. Why? Simply, in most countries, the government’s role is between five and ten times what it was a century ago (expressed in percentage of GDP). The IYI seems ubiquitous in our lives but is still a small minority and is rarely seen outside specialized outlets, think tanks, the media, and universities — most people have proper jobs and there are not many openings for the IYI. Beware the semi-erudite who thinks he is an erudite. He fails to naturally detect sophistry. The IYI pathologizes others for doing things he doesn’t understand without ever realizing it is his understanding that may be limited. More socially, the IYI subscribes to The New Yorker. He knows at any point in time what his words or actions are doing to his reputation.

Everything is Fake: Top 40 Pieces of Fakery in Our World Everything is fake in our society today – or at least a great many things are. Our world is filled w... Everything is fake in our society today – or at least a great many things are. Our world is filled with an extraordinary amount of lies, deception, disinformation, misinformation, fakery, fraud, facades, mirages, propaganda and brainwashing. The good thing though is that once you awaken to the deception, you can use it as a tool for raising your consciousness. Sure, we’ve all felt overwhelmed, sad, angry and impotent at times when we’ve seen just how easily our (mis)leaders can fool the masses with sophistry and empty rhetoric, but they’ve all been placed there to challenge us to wake up more quickly and fully, and reclaim our world. Here’s my list of the top 40 pieces of fakery in our world today: 1. Let’s begin with the MSM (Mainstream Media), better called the lamestream media, and their “news”, which is essentially corporate infotainment. 1. 2. However, they are few and far between.
