Tricks + Treats: Graphic Soaps by Sarah Rhodes - A Beautiful Mess - StumbleUpon Hi, It's Sarah from Team Rhodes Weddings! I am going to share a simple soap DIY with you this morning. Enjoy! Shopping list: - clear glycerin (found at craft stores) or you can recycle clear soaps of your own.- essential oils for lovely smelling soaps- a small milk carton- tracing paper, book pages, transparency paper, any kind of paper, or pretty fabric squares. Have your artwork to put in soaps ready before you start! Over low heat, melt your glycerin in a pot on your stove. Add your oils! Once all the glycerin is melted, pour it into your milk carton. Put the whole carton in your freezer for quick setting! Once you're done with all of them, and they're all solid, then tear off the carton around the bars. Thanks, Sarah!

Everything Fabulous My Backyard Eden: Fabulous Faux Frosted Glass {How’s that for alliteration?} Do you ever just walk into a room and notice things that you never noticed before, but have been there all along? This happened to me when I got back from visiting my Mom for Easter. I walked into our Master bathroom and noticed for the first time, that I could see everything inside this cabinet here. Aw…gee, would you like to borrow some dental floss, or maybe a feminine hygiene product? Perhaps you’d rather have a Q-tip? This cabinet is the only storage we have in this bathroom, so all of this non-displayable stuff has to go here. I thought about lining the glass with fabric, but then I remembered seeing Frosted Glass spray paint at Home Depot. I sketched up and then cut out some leaves and vines. I arranged them in a pattern I liked and using spray adhesive, affixed them to the back side of the glass door. Then I sprayed on two coats of the Frosted Glass paint. Make sure you have a friend nearby to help you watch the paint dry. I love how it turned out.

thelongthread.com markham street design How to make gift bags from newspaper | How About Orange - StumbleUpon When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Upend the bag so the 2" flap is now up. Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag.

The 30 Minute Pillow Have you ever sewn an invisible zipper? I haven't. They intimidate me. So for Madeline's throw pillows, I opted for the zipper-less envelope pillow. To get started, cut your front piece of fabric the same size as your pillow insert - this makes the pillow fluffy and tight. Cut the corners, turn right side out and insert your pillow. I loved this pillow from Rue Magazine, and made a copycat version in purple. There's my styling assistant again :) The whole process of decorating Madeline's room started a few weeks ago when I sold her old bed on Craigslist for $200, which I then used as my budget for decorating the room.
