Free pattern: Faux Mistake Rib Watchman’s Cap in 8 sizes I’ve always loved the simplicity of the “mistake rib” pattern in knitting. I tried a few different ways of mimicking it with crochet over the years, but nothing turned out quite right – until now! I finally found the right way to create a hat that both looks like a mistake rib watchman’s cap AND has the stretch of one. The solution was to crochet the hat in rows from the brim to the crown, combining stitches of different heights and working in the back loop. I made the sample in wool, which has much more elasticity than some other yarns. This post contains affiliate links. Don’t forget to share a picture on Ravelry or with my Facebook page if you make one! If you want an easy print format, you can buy an ad-free PDF version on Craftsy. Mimic the look of the mistake rib knitting stitch pattern with stitches of different heights and by working in the back loop. Finished Sizes Newborn (3-12 month old, 1-2 year old, 3-5 year old, 6-10 year old, Teen/Adult small, Adult medium, Adult large). Hat

Crochet Crocodile Stitch Photo Tutorial | the twisted yarn One of the crochet stitches that’s important for the house bag is the crocodile stitch. Look, here it is, used for the roof of the house, which forms the flap for the bag:- Crocodile Stitch For The Roof Of The House It’s not difficult but it looks fancy, and it’s a stitch that works well for scarves. Since you work the scales one-at-a-time, it can carry a variegated yarn quite well, more so than – say – a granny square, which can get weirdly splodgy in a variegated yarn. Crocodile Stitch Just don’t make an entire cardigan in this stitch, especially not in green, or you will look like an actual crocodile – which is not a good look (except on crocodiles, of course). Whilst I finish off writing up the bag pattern, I thought I’d put together these instructions, because although there are a lot of crocodile stitch tutorials out there, they really do vary in quality. (Actually there is a bit of further ado.) Abbreviations:- ch = chain ss = slip stitch sk = skip st/sts = stitch/stitches 1. Easy! 2. 3.
