It’s Time To Plug In: How Non-Techies Can Get In On Coding Coding is like the new yoga. It’s seem so cool and everyone is doing it! But to do or not to do? I struggle with this every day. I don’t necessarily gravitate toward numbers, signs, and lines and lines of them. There are so many resources to help you get started. I suggest (as many others do too) to start with the very basics. Worry not, to ease the process, I’ve picked five of my favorites that are easy to work with and keep me engaged. 1) Dash, General Assembly This is my latest obsession. 2) Skillcrush “Digital skills are job skills.” 3) Code Academy Website & App Code Academy was one of the first online resources I used to dive into my coding education. 4) Coursera Coursera boast legitimate online courses aka MOOCs. 5) HackDesign This is my second latest obsession. HTML. As always, if you need more and want to have a vent session about the struggle, just holler.
Klipsch Heresy “Type E” Capacitor Replacement | Steven Eudaly Eight years ago I picked up a beautiful set of Klipsch Heresy speakers. My dad used to sell hi-fi in the 80s and one day an old friend and former customer called him up to say he was moving to Florida and letting go of his stereo (apparently they don’t allow nice stereos there). We went over to his house and auditioned what he had, which included this first generation Klipsch Heresy pair. After a brief listening session I couldn’t help but take the speakers home with me. There are some fairly heated debates among hi-fi buffs over whether or not the Heresys are worth a damn. With a manufacture date of sometime in 1980, these particular speakers are now 33 years old. Even when well cared for and used properly, the capacitors in the crossover network are bound to fail to some extent over time. Mine seemed to sound fine, but I figured they deserved some maintenance after several years of faithful service. Isn’t that steel label plate cool? Like this: Like Loading...

DECWARE Imperial Folded Horn The Redesigned 1956 Jensen Imperial Reproducer by Steve Deckert The original Jensen Imperial started back in the days before Stereo when people listened only in mono. Speakers were sold as raw components and consumers built their own enclosures or had them built. Manufactures like Jensen offered plans for various speaker cabinets that would accommodate their new fixed magnet moving coil speakers. My introduction to it came about 20 years ago when a fellow carpenter and I were finishing a house. I built our first pair, and the fun began. Along the journey we quickly found out that nothing man made that you could buy in any stereo shop could ever come remotely close to this cabinet as a sub-woofer. In the years that followed we built several more of these cabinets and used them as sub-woofers in large night clubs. On one occasion a club owner wanted to hear what one would do in his own place so he called us up. And frankly the stories go on and on and on and on. VIEW CART or CHECK OUT

Powerfull Portable Bluetooth Speaker 2x5W Bluetooth Speaker Make your own powerfull Bluetooth Speaker with some extra features, easy explained, cheap and handy to use for less then 15$. Maybe you have some components which you don't need to buy like 5W speakers and some lithium batteries to make it less expensive like I did. In the following steps I will try to explain on the easiest way how to assemble this bluetooth speaker, people who don't know a lot of electronics will understand I hope :) This speaker has a very long battery life when you use good 18650 lithium batteries. I found 4x 18650 lithium batteries which I used in parallel and has a total of 6000mah, the speaker plays over 24 hours on the highest volume which is very loud. You can charge the speaker with a micro USB, which is very handy! I also added a voltmeter display wich I bought on ebay so I will know when the batteries are almost empty. The last new thing I added to the speaker is the 5V usb out so you can charge your smartphone or other stuff.

From Trash Pile to Fully Functional: the Rough Lamp from Compeixalaigua Design Studio is Anything But Posted by erika rae | 18 Nov 2013 | Comments (2) Sometimes great designs come from leftover waste—look no further than Pothra planters, shipping pallet chairs and clothes hangers made of bike parts are three examples that prove it. We've got another design that's giving new life to old materials: Rough from Barcelona-based Compeixalaigua Design Studio is a clean update on the forgotten pile of wood strips it once was. The designers needed a way to light up their workspace and the perceived trash became a bright idea. Upcycled products like this make it seem easy to turn trash into design gold.
