Genius Part 3 For More Genius Pics Go Here: Gorgeous Inward Facing Home in Mexico City [30 pics] Photograph by Pim Schalkwijk Finding a little peace and privacy in the largest metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere can be challenging. Architects: twentyfourseven – Armando Oliver Suinaga Location: Mexico City, Mexico Project Area: 817 square meters (8,794 square feet) Construction: 2007 – 2010 Photography: Pim Schalkwijk First spotted on: ArchDaily If you enjoyed this post, the Sifter highly recommends: The Stunning Static House in Jakarta, Indonesia [30 pics]

Nestrest Doesn't that picture look so peaceful and inviting? I think I'm in love. That dangling, serene little pod is a NESTREST, designed by Paris' Daniel Pouzet and Fred Frety. It's described as an over-sized bird's nest that's perfect for relaxation, meditation and open-air conversations. And if you love the design, but dangling in the air isn't your thing, NESTREST is also available as a standing lounger. It's made of 4 cm wide strips of a unique material called DEDON Fiber, the world's first synthetic resin fiber material. Pop-Up Corner Lamps Illuminate those Hard-to-Light Places Standing lamps in corners often feel a bit like round pegs in square holes, not quite fitting the space in a way that would feel intentional. This flat-pack, fold-out solution from Well Well Designers is a low-cost and elegantly-designed approach that is minimalist in terms of both materials and appearance. The product packaging and typography are all comprehensively considered in form and function – this is not a typical in-the-box retail object, but a simple black (or blue or red) on white approach. “The Pop-up corner light is delivered in an envelope. The lamp is constructed from a sheet of polypropylene. The sheet is cut and incised, in such a way to produce a square, triangular or circular module when folded at a 90° angle.

TetraBox Light by Ed Chew Liquid to Light Designer Ed Chew takes a green step in the right direction with the TetraBox lamp, a light object made from discarded drink packets that would have otherwise ended up in landfills already packed to the brim. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape.
