How to make a cookie cutter / food shaper. If you’re a long time reader of my blog, you might have seen my Rabbids cookies and Rabbids bento, which I made using a handmade rabbid cookie cutter.

How to make a cookie cutter / food shaper

When I made it, I used very crappy pliers, a chopstick and a soldering iron. Even though I was very excited to have my own custom cookie cutter and wanted to encourage people to make their own, it just didn’t look beginner friendly. Felt journal cover (with pocket!) I really can't get enough of composition books.

felt journal cover (with pocket!)

I use them for all of my sketches and planning because they are easy and inexpensive. Sometimes I find them with really cute covers, but most of the time I just get the plain jane variety. Now, however, I can fancy them up and keep my pencils handy! With some wool felt and a spot of embroidery, I've got a covered journal! (Well, actually, my sister does...she already stole this one, and my mom asked me to make 3 more for the kids for school!) XOX SKIRT. Art Threads: Wednesday Sewing - Pie Potholders

I love pie! My mom and I saw lattice top pie potholders in a fabric shop awhile ago - no patterns left, but I thought how hard could it be to come up with one? And I always need pot holders. I think my kitchen is potholder hell - they never last long. I burn them, stain them, accidentally cut them, ... but mostly burn them! [Make Your Mark DIY] Union Jack Pillow DIY, London Calling! It thought this might be fun since the Olympics are just around the corner.

[Make Your Mark DIY] Union Jack Pillow DIY, London Calling!

I dig the Union Jack flag because it makes me want to shout “GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!” Or just plain rock out to a Sex Pistols song. Either way, this will give your décor a distinctively hip flavor and have your friends talking about how cool you are. June 23, 2010 I’ve had several requests for a tutorial on how I do my appliques. There is no right or wrong way to applique, this is simply how I do it.

Also, this is going to be a long post. I don’t like when tutorials are split into several posts as it’s hard to go back to previous steps. This will be all in one place, but quite lengthy! Kitchen Confections in Moda's Vintage Modern: Pleated Apron. It's Week Two of our Kitchen Confections Series for Moda Fabrics!

Kitchen Confections in Moda's Vintage Modern: Pleated Apron

If you're a regular Sew4Home visitor, you know we love aprons. So of course there was no question we'd whip up a fab apron in Bonnie & Camille's Vintage Modern collection. We combined coordinating Bella Solids by Moda, matching rick rack, form-flattering waist pleats, and a quilted accent along the top of the bodice. Even the pockets have box pleat details, and by tilting them at an angle, they give the skirt a pretty pop of color.

Make sure you check out all the tutorials in this series. To round out this perfect package o' projects, we've also created a matching set of recipe cards and gift tags. Vintage Modern is hitting the shelves now at your favorite in-store and online retailers. Country Cottage Apron Instructions. Well gosh, this picture came out blurry.

Obsessive crafting disorder: Bag Lady Week- Messenger Bag Tutorial. It's been a busy blogging week celebrating my favorite accessory, and I thought I would wrap it up with another tutorial. These bags made me so happy, I had to share the pattern. These are great, for business or pleasure. They are a bit more work than your average project (at least for me), so allow yourself about 3-4 hours to cut and complete. Tutorial/ Anleitung: Brieftasche.

Bi-fold Wallet Tutorial. I wanted a wallet that carried a lot of cards with no risk of them sliding out. As you can see, the card slots face inward, which means your cards will stay put as long as your wallet is closed. I promise it's a lot easier than it looks so bear with me. Here we go! Disclaimer: I do not mind if you use this pattern for personal use, or even to sew and sell on a small scale. However, please do not sell the actual pattern for profit... it is for everyone to enjoy free of charge. Sewing Project: Sundress {With Free Pattern} I fell in love to this “Love In The Afternoon” sundress from Twinkle when I saw it featured in Craft Stylist 2 months ago. A cocoon shape (with narrowing bottom hem) with origami inspired shoulder strap and the zig-zag topstitching on the bust band are those features that caught my eyes… moreover, it is a free pattern, how can I resist not to sew one.

I believed that it would look great on my best friend, so I made this for her as a maternity dress. For some reasons, she doesn’t want me to put her as the main picture, so, I have to put her on the second, go and have a look how this dress turn out on her, isn’t she lovely This free pattern is available in sizes from 0-16 for you to download and print, there is also a written instruction for you to follow, [click here to get all the details in Craft Stylist].

The dress is not difficult to sew, but I find that it would be much easier if there are some pictures to go with the instructions, especially on the shoulder straps. Neon Doodle Embroidery Super Kicks. Happy Shoesday! This week I am sharing my newest project for my feet - Doodle embroidery super kicks. What's so super about them? Well, it took me 17 hours to embroider one shoe and adding the word "super" makes me feel a bit better about all of the time spent making them! I love, love, love these hot little babies so the project totally seems worth the time to me. Sewing: TriFold Floral Wallet {Tutorial & Pattern} This is the trifold wallet I made by using the embroidery with flower applique couching on it. You can get the pattern and tutorial on the embroidery work here. Sewing: Note Book Cover {Tutorial & Pattern}

Let’s dressed-up your note book and personalized it to your taste with a new cover!!!! I made mine after buying a cheap note book from the stationery shop! Why spend more on the cover that I will throw away upon finished up the whole book? I salvaged some left over fabrics from my stashes to sew it, which I can use it repeatedly, book after book. Look familiar? You are right! This pattern is for A5 size note book, if you have other sizes, don’t worry, you can still adapt to this pattern or you can make a non sew-up back cover with a strap for adjustment to suit different width.
