The Major League Baseball (MLB) San Francis Giants released a video welcoming newly acquired outfielder Lee Jeong-hoo (25) on the 8th (Korean time).
San Francisco posted a video on its official YouTube channel showing Lee Jung-hoo visiting their home stadium, Oracle Park, on the day of his induction ceremony.
The video also included a phone call between coach Bob Melvin and Lee Jeong-hoo, who could not attend the induction ceremony.
Coach Melvin welcomed Lee Jeong-hoo, saying, “Lee Jung-hoo is the player I was looking for.” Lee Jeong-hoo also said, “I’ve heard a lot about Kim Ha-seong,” and “He’s just waiting for the day to play.”
He then expressed his ambition, saying, “I will become (Coach Melvin’s) favorite player,” and Coach Melvin responded, “I’m already that kind of player.”
Coach Melvin coached Ha-seong Kim as the manager of the San Diego Padres for the past two seasons.
At the beginning of the video, Lee Jung-hoo walked through downtown San Francisco and expressed his joy, saying, "I wanted to live in a port city like this. It's a great honor to be fortunate enough to join a team with a long history."
His father, former LG Twins coach Lee Jong-beom, and his mother, Jeong Yeon-hee, also appeared in the video.
Ms. Jeong introduced her son, saying, "(Lee Jeong-hoo) was introverted when he was young, but his personality seems to have changed as his dreams grew in middle school."
Former coach Lee also cheered, saying, “He overcame the pressure of having a legendary father and entered the major leagues.” He added, “His mentality and mindset are far superior to mine, so if he works hard, he will be successful.”
Lee looked around San Francisco's home stadium and added, "I'm looking forward to seeing Jung Hu play (here)," and added, "I hope he adapts well and brings joy to San Francisco fans."
