KIA will have a doubleheader match against SSG Landers at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on Wednesday. As the previous day's game between the two teams was canceled due to rain, the game was reorganized into a "Sunday doubleheader" in accordance with the league regulations.
Kia has announced Hwang Dong-ha as its starting pitcher in the first game. Hwang, who was selected as a substitute starting pitcher after Lee's injury departure, allowed five runs in three ⅔ (against LG on April 27) and three runs in five innings (against Hanwha on May 3), respectively in the previous two games. It is Hwang's first appearance in the game against SSG this season.
Under the regulation, up to two doubleheader special entries can be registered, KIA registered pitcher Kim Hyun-soo and infielder Byun Woo-hyuk.
In the first round match, KIA set up a "table setter" with Park Chan-ho and Kim Sun-bin, while Kim Do-young, Choi Hyung-woo and Lee Woo-sung were placed at the center of the batting order. The lower batting order will be formed by Socrates, Byun Woo-hyuk, Kim Tae-gun and Lee Chang-jin. Na Sung-bum and Choi Won-jun were excluded from the starting lineup on the day, while Byun Woo-hyuk will play as the starting first baseman and Lee Woo-sung will play as the right fielder.
Coach Lee Bum-ho said, "Na Sung-bum will play in the second game. I think it would be too much to play in both games, so I will post Woo Hyuk today and give him (Sung Beom) in the second game. I can play in the first game if I get a chance to play as a pinch hitter."
In the case of Choi Won-jun, he suffered a bruise on his right shin after being hit by a ball against SSG on the 10th, but he is still in pain. Coach Lee Bum-ho said in the training part, "I think it's still too much to get hit by the leg. I don't think I can start both the first and second games, and I will decide (the second game) after seeing what happens in the first game."
