Grooming Tips for your ESA Dog

Paying for the grooming of your emotional support dog every five to six weeks becomes very costly. It is better to groom your ESA dog yourself. The saved money can be used on superior dog food or regular checkups with the vet. Grooming your ESA dog with an ESA Letter keeps him healthy. When you are grooming your dog, you are not only keeping his ears, skin, teeth, coat, and feet healthy but you are also becoming familiar with your dog body.

This will help you to notice any usual thing that needs the attention of a veterinarian. Before you dive into your ESA dog grooming, you should know that keeping an ESA dog requires a legit letter issued from a state-licensed LHMP. Here are some of the tips that make you a competent and confident dog groomer.

The first tip is to be patient and use lots of treats. Keep grooming fun or positive, and if needed take your ESA dog to a professional groomer. Remember! You don’t need anyESA letter for housing for that. Dogs can sense the stress of their owners so make sure that you are calm and relax. Pay attention to your dog’s reaction. Be extra cautious when using nail clippers and scissors. With patience and kindness, your dog will get accustomed to the grooming process and feel more comfortable.

Don’t Wait to Start your ESA dog Grooming

If you have a puppy, then start grooming as early as possible. This will make your ESA dog well behaved and help you to avoid injuries and mistakes.

Bathing

Unless your ESA dog has gotten into something dirty and smelly, he will need to be bathed only every 2- 3 months. The daily bathing can make his skin dry by stripping the natural oils from his coat. Use a shampoo that is specifically made for dogs. Don’t use human shampoo as it can be too harsh for the skin of your cute little presa canario. Whenever you are bathing, avoid getting water and shampoo directly getting in the mouth, ears, and nose of your puppy.

Brushing

Regular brushing helps to get rid of dry and dead skin, removes dead hairs, and helps you become familiar with your ESA dog body. You should brush your ESA dog every few days. Choose the right brush. If you are brushing for general purpose then use a pinhead brush, brush like a comb, or a Zoom Groom. If you are planning to remove the hair mats and dead coat of your dog then use a universal slicker brush or shredding blade.

At first, keep the session short and then increase the duration of time as your ESA dog learns to enjoy it. Another benefit of brushing your dog hairs is that excess dirt slides off from their coat. This reduces your stress of giving your dog a bath every second day.

Feet

Regularly trim the foot hair of your dog by using a scissor. This will help to remove any debris from getting caught into his feet. Keep in mind! Don’t try to trim hairs in between the dog’s toes.

Ears

Keep the ESA dog’s ears inside the surface clean as your kangal shepherd dog will not only feel good but it will also prevent ear infection. Also check the ears for fleas, wood tricks, or anything unusual. Use a cotton ball with an ear cleaning solution. Don’t use water as it does not easily evaporate.

Nails

Regularly check your ESA dog nails. Ideally, nails should be cut after every 3 to 6 weeks depending on growth. One of the easy ways to see whether your cute furry dog needs clipping is to look when your ESA is standing straight. Regular nail clipping reduces the torn nails’ risk and also saves the wear and tear of your carpeting and floors.
