Lee Chung-bok (50), who was the captain of the High1 Resort PBA Team League for the 2024-2025 season, was one of the players representing Korean 3-cushion during his amateur days.
Lee Chung-bok, who boasted solid skills to the point of being called a 'billiards textbook', played as a world-class player by defeating the 'Big 4 Billiards Kings' Tomijon Blomdahl (Sweden) and Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) at competitions hosted by the World Carom Federation (UMB).
Lee Chung-bok, who declared that he would turn pro for the 2023-2024 season after leaving the amateur stage behind, received a report card that was difficult for not only himself but also the billiards community to accept. 파워볼게임
In the nine individual tour competitions held last season, he failed to pass the first round even once and lost every single one.
Lee Chung-bok, who was eventually relegated from the first division, barely managed to maintain his qualification for the first division this season after going through the 'Q-school', which was an opportunity for promotion.
However, he suffered defeats in the first round of two individual tour tournaments this season.
In the round of 128 of the Hana Card PBA Championship, the second tournament of the season held on the 3rd, he lost again to Lee Young-hoon in a tiebreaker match, falling into an 11-game losing streak.
When asked about this at the PBA Team League Media Day held at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 10th, Lee Chung-bok expressed his thoughts in a calm and composed voice.
Lee Chung-bok said, "I think my overall mental state was not good.
And I was not in good physical condition either.
So these days, I'm trying to think about how to gain more confidence and enjoy playing billiards."
In fact, Lee Chung-bok's team league performance was not bad.
The lack of victory in the pro league is limited to the individual tour.
Lee Chung-bok's team league record last season was 7 wins and 5 losses in singles and 19 wins and 20 losses in doubles, for a total of 26 wins and 25 losses (51% win rate).
In terms of win rate, he ranked 26th out of 61 team league players, and 17th out of 38 male players, which was high.
Thanks to this, he was able to play as a team league player for High1 Resort this season despite his poor individual tour performance.
Lee Chung-bok said, "I'm not too worried.
I think I'll do well by making good use of what I did before," and hinted to himself, "I'll do well."
Last season, High1 Resort finished 8th out of 9 teams with 14 wins and 26 losses in 40 regular season games.
It's important for Lee Chung-bok to win by a single stroke in the individual tour, but as the captain of High1 Resort, he also needs to improve the team's performance.
Lee Chung-bok said, "Last season, I didn't find my place well, and there was a lot of disarray.
I should have done better," and added, "This season, I will build on my experience from last season and lead the young players well to create a good team."
