New York-Style Bagel Recipe

New York-Style Bagel Recipe
This is the story of an amazing New York-Style Bagel Recipe. But it doesn’t just start there. It began with food blogger’s block (writer’s block, but for food bloggers)… The most frustrating thing for any food blogger. Many of us will not admit that we sometimes get it, but I find no problem with admitting that I occasionally get food blogger’s block. Why? Well, I am not *that* normal. Okay… Exaggerating a bit… But I seriously do bake a bit too much… This past weekend, I decided that I was going to use all of the baking energy that I built up over the past couple of weeks to create some edible masterpieces to share with you all. The first edible masterpiece (I love how I call bagels edible masterpieces…) that I decided to share (out of the billion things that I baked) is an awesome bagel recipe that I adapted from a cookbook that I recently “borrowed” from my aunt, Ultimate Bread. At this point, you’re saying- “WHAT?! Why? 10. Related:  London I (Expansion)

Secret Love Notes Envelope Pillow Cover Tutorial I’m finally back at my sewing machine and it feels great! Last week I shared how to make your own pillow forms or pillow inserts. Making your own is so much cheaper than purchasing them, and it’s easier than you probably imagine. You may even already have the materials in your craft stash to whip them up. After you’ve made the pillow forms, then the pillow cover possibilities are endless. Cauliflower Crust Thai Chicken Pizza I’ve seen this cauliflower pizza crust idea floating around the internet for a while now. It seems bizarre. Although they sound the same, cauliflower and flour have nothing in common. Turns out, my suspicions were completely wrong. Recipe Rundown Taste: A little spicy, fresh, and not at all like cauliflower. Ingredients: *Note: Use the large holes on a box grater to shred the cauliflower into crumbles. For the crust: 2 cups firmly packed shredded cauliflower from about half a large head (*see note) 1 large egg 1/4 cup finely shredded mozzarella 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tablespoon (or more) Sriracha 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons olive oil For the topping: 1 (7-ounce) jar peanut sauce (*see note) 2 tablespoons peanut butter 1 cup cooked shredded chicken (from about 1 large breast) 1/2 cup finely shredded mozzarella 4 green onions, green parts chopped 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro Directions: For the crust: Preheat oven to 450°F. Swedish Rye Bread On cool Saturday mornings, the oven seems to plead, “Make bread! Please! Make bread!” Enter my summer nemesis, a bread machine borrowed to convert a recipe for Swedish rye, a family favorite. What trouble! I learned that the extra oomph in rapid-rise yeast creates a round top on heavy, European-style bread. ALANNA's TIPS Both fennel seed and ground fennel work, so does all caraway. I love the taste and texture produced by Bob’s Red Mill’s dark rye flour but other ryes work too. Wheat gluten is a favorite breadmaker trick but lightens this bread too much. When mixed by hand, this bread works beautifully with a "slow rise" in the refrigerator overnight. For years, I baked Swedish Rye Bread in traditional loaf pans. (2012) I no longer have a bread machine so always mix this bread by hand, even a mixer is unnecessary. For just-buy-the-box convenience, Bob’s Red Mill also sells a stone ground rye bread mix for bread machines. Have you seen a Butter Bell? How to print a Kitchen Parade recipe.

Turkish pide dough recipe Standing time 2 hours 10 minutes Stir to dissolve the yeast and sugar in 125 ml of the warm water. Set aside in a warm place for about 10 minutes or until frothy. Use your fingers to work 90 g of the flour into the yeast to make a sloppy paste. Sprinkle lightly with a little more flour, then cover with a tea towel and set aside in a warm place for 30 minutes to form a "sponge". Place the remaining flour and the salt into a large bowl. Transfer to an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook and knead on a low speed for 10–15 minutes or until very smooth and springy. When ready to bake the bread, preheat the oven to its highest setting with two pizza stones or oiled baking sheets in it. Brush the surface liberally with the egg wash.

Honey Beer Bread Recipe On Friday night, I finished season six of Mad Men. At 2am. About a week after starting the season. On Netflix. On my wifi tv, my phone, my elliptical, and of course on my laptop (in just about every room of the house). And while none of those were even options a decade ago, they are all of course completely “normal” now, right?!? I mean, I don’t even blink an eye nowadays when a friend asks what show they should “start” next in April. Well, to harken back to the good ol’ days when Don Draper and his family would have sat together around a “set” to watch a show, at a designated time each week, no computer in the house, but perhaps with an Old Fashioned in hand, I made a simple shrimp saute to share with you today inspired by the classic cocktail. Lest I ever forget, most often it’s those normal things are the best things. Read more Read more You guys.

Sweet Chili Lime Chicken with Cilantro Couscous recipe Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir chicken breast cubes until the juices run clear and chicken is no longer pink, about 5 to 6 minutes (sprinkle with MSG or salt and pepper as is cooks). Remove from skillet. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, lime juice and zest, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Pour this sauce into the same hot skillet and bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce begins to reduce slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add cooked chicken cubes to the sauce and cook until the sauce forms a glaze on the chicken pieces, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.Meanwhile, bring vegetable broth to a boil in a saucepan. Stir in couscous; turn off heat and let couscous stand until the broth is absorbed, about 5 minutes.

broccoli parmesan fritters Last week, it was pointed out to me that among the 750 recipes in the archives, there is but a single recipe that utilizes broccoli. Just one! (It’s a great one, though.) Please understand: this is not one of those stories about how preciously advanced my toddler’s tastes are, how early he took an interest in foie gras and how he turns his nose up at white flour pastas, preferring farro. I have a theory that you can tuck almost any finely chopped or shredded vegetable — be it potatoes, zucchini, or an Indian-spiced mix — into a savory pancake, fry it in small mounds until crisp on both sides, serve it with a dollop of a sour cream or yogurt sauce and they will be inhaled. So, you know where this is going. And with that, I had them for lunch instead. Whole Wheat Garlic & Herb Beer Bread Whole Wheat Garlic & Herb Beer Bread I think that beer bread will forever be one of my favorite sides to prepare. It’s quick (less than 10 minutes to prep), it calls for ingredients I pretty much always have on hand, it makes your home smell heavenly, and…let’s face it…it makes delicious use of a bottle of beer. What’s not to love? One of my recent spins on my favorite honey beer bread recipe is this easy whole wheat garlic and herb beer bread. Made with white whole wheat flour (my favorite), it is a step healthier than the traditional all-purpose flour version. I’ll say cheers to that!
