Facebook. Mini German Pancakes | Real Mom KitchenReal Mom Kitchen. Here’s a fun breakfast you can make this weekend. My family love German Pancakes (at our house they are called Hootenannies). So when I saw the idea of making mini ones at a site called Gimme Some Oven I had to try them. Her recipe is basically the same as the one I make in my 9 x 13 pan, but you add the butter to the batter instead of the pan. She also adds vanilla and orange zest. I add the vanilla, but didn’t have any orange to zest in my fridge. The great thing about the minis is they turn out as perfect little cups just right to fill with fruit. I also made mine in my Demarle muffin tin, so no need for greasing here. Mini German Pancakes 1 cup milk 6 eggs 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. orange zest (optional) 1/4 cup butter, melted Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Breakfast Pockets. These are just awesome.
They are one of my favorite make ahead breakfast ideas. Not only do they have an entire meal stuffed into a portable pouch but they also made me a bread maker. Not a “bread maker” but a maker of bread. A bread maker just makes me think of the appliance. Which I need to buy, by the way. I don’t do bread. I can turn any bread recipe, supposedly “easy” or not, into a recipe for cardboard. Oven where they add some secret ingredient to my bread that makes it unfit for human consumption. Except for these make ahead breakfast pockets. So if you have sneaky, little, secret ingredient adding elves in your oven you too can make these! I promise I didn’t mean to make that sound like an infomercial sell. ”But wait, there’s more!” Ingredients Dough 1 1/2 tablespoon yeast 1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees) 3/4 cup evaporated milk (110 degrees) 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon salt 3 1/2 cups flour Filling Instructions Dough: Filling: Assembling the pockets: Sausage, egg and biscuits: 1 can buttermilk biscuits, 1 lb JD sausage, 1 cu shredded mozzarella, 1 cu shredded cheddar, 6 eggs, 3/4 cu milk, salt & pepper. BEST PANCAKES EVER !!! These are absolutely the best home made pancakes we have ever eaten!! They are super tall, light and fluffy and yet they don't get all mushy when syrup is added, they are EXCELLENT!! 3/4 cup milk2 tablespoons white vinegar (see note)1 cup all purpose flour2 tablespoons white sugar (I used 3)1 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt1 egg2 tablespoons melted butter1 teaspoon vanillaCombine the milk and vinegar in a small bowl for 10 minutes to "sour".
This is an important step and it is called "soured milk" which is much different that sour milk. I guarantee you will NOT taste the vinegar in the final product. Set aside.Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. In a smaller bowl, whisk the soured milk, egg, vanilla and melted butter together. After 10 minutes, you will see bubbles in the batter, very important DO NOT STIR AGAIN. GENTLY dip out (don't pour out) 1/2 cup of batter and place it on a buttered grill or frying pan.

She’s an award-winning food writer, a photographer and a recipe developer who once completed a marathon recipe-writing stint by producing a recipe a day — for a whole year.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she flew helicopters or designed subway systems in her spare time. Her talents seem endless. Among her many accomplishments, she also helped write Top Pot Hand-Forged Doughnuts. When the book arrived, I was a bit surprised to see the word “doughnuts” spelled out in full. Reading over the instructions, I realized this easily-distracted Gemini needed reinforcements. These two common household items did the trick, but as you can see, my centring abilities leave a bit to be desired. In Which Charmian and Joanne Follow the Doughnut Recipe While the dough and glaze are easy to make, the frying required undivided attention. If you attempt doughnuts, let me warn you, there must be no wandering off to check email. The results? Total time:
Quinoa Power Pancakes. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of quinoa. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it is completely a “fad” food, but I think it is one that will stick around for a while. And I have absolutely zero issues chowing down on a fad food, especially when it is good for me and tastes great. I even have a Pinterest board devoted to quinoa. (Shared with the lovely Cassie of Bake Your Day.) It is so versatile. You can bake with it, you can make salads with it, you can put it in stews and soups, and I know I always mention this, but you can freeze it! This isn’t the first time I have made quinoa pancakes (I’ve even done a savory version), but this time I upped the ante a bit.
I really need to whip up a huge batch of these, they would be great in the mornings now that I have two kids to juggle. Ingredients Instructions In medium bowl, whisk together quinoa, flour, ground flax-seed, wheat bran, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Notes I usually double or triple the batch and freeze a bunch of these. Weekend Biscuit Egg Casserole. Yummy Foods. Make-Ahead Oatmeal Smoothies. Awhile back, I wrote a post about Overnight Refrigerator Oatmeal that has been very popular with Yummy readers. (Thanks for all of the enthusiastic feedback!) Since then I've been experimenting with a smoothie version of that recipe.
In today's post, I'm sharing my 6 favorite flavor varieties along with a formula you can follow for inventing your own smoothie flavor combos. They're easy, can be stored in the fridge for several days; and they can be frozen! Breakfast before school or work, or on the way. Like the refrigerator oatmeal, these smoothies are easy to grab for a quick breakfast on the go to take along in the car, to work, or anywhere. Smoothies have the added convenience of one-handed drinking--no spoon required--so you can sip on them while you drive or walk. If you have kids and have a hard time getting a healthy breakfast in them before school, let them choose or create a favorite flavor and help you make them ahead of time.
Great boost before or after exercise. Step 1. Cooking Bacon.....in Water | Foodmancing the Girl. Why would someone cook bacon in water? That just sounds awful. One would think the water would leach out all the fatty goodness. Your right. Thats what makes it so good. When you pan sauté bacon in water a lot of the fat leaves the bacon and jumps in the pool. There are two other reasons to use this technique. First Place your bacon in a sauté pan. Next, fill the pan with water till bacon is covered. Place the pan on the burner, crank up to high, and let it boil. When the water is just about boiled off, it will begin to snap and hiss at you. End result: perfectly crispy, super tasty, and light not greasy bacon. Churro Waffles. Have you ever eaten a churro before? Well if you haven't....you have no idea what your missing out on! A churro is a golden rod of pure deliciousness twisted and rolled into lots and lots of sweet cinnamon and sugar right after it's taken a crispy bath in steaming hot oil.
With one bite you are plunged into a world where both spicy and sweet live harmoniously under the Mexican sun. That seems highly appropriate doesn't it?! Seeing as Mexico is one of the many places in Latin America and Spain where churros are made fresh daily by brilliant street vendors. Coincidentally Mexico, or at least getting another chance to dip my toes in the warm aqua water along the beaches of Playa del Carmen is on my 2013 resolution/to do list.
Additionally, since I woke up the other morning with dreams of sugared churros in my head, and since I was no where near the Mexican border at the time I figured I'd improvise a little.
