En Inside Microsoft Research explican los detalles, donde, además de publicar el vídeo de demostración que podéis ver abajo, indican que podría usarse para crear modelos perfectos para imprimir en 3D, así como para desarrollar videojuegos, por ejemplo. El proyecto es de Peter Ondruska, estudiante de la Universidad de Oxford, quien trabajó en Microsoft Research para crear este sistema que ya ha sido bautizado: MobileFusion.
