Overview - DAC conversion on 16 bits (accuracy 1/600th of a half-tone). - Selection of the MIDI channel on each of the 4 voices. - 10 different types of CV on each voice: Note, Velocity, Release Velocity, Aftertouch Channel, Modulation or Control Change #2, #3, #4, #5 (in 7 or 14-bit). - Up to 9 different Gate signal on each voice: Gate, Triggers of varying length, MIDI clock, Start/Stop, Reset. - Gate Outputs can be switched into Inputs and convert Analog Signal into MIDI Commands (MIDI Clocks, Start, Stop). - Mono mode with 4 independent channels or Polyphonic Modes 2-voice, 2 + 2-voice, 3-voice or 4-voice.
. - Drums Mode (up to 8 trigger output). - 6 different Scales : Tempered, Pythagoras, 5 TET (Tone Equal Temperament), 7 TET, 24 TET or Harry Partch. - Volt/Octave or Volt/Hertz output - Re-Trig notes can be activated or desactived. - Multipliers and divisors of the MIDI clock adjustable from x 12 to /4 on each channel. - Transposition on each channel of +/-12 half tones. - Firmware update. What U is that synth ??? - Modular synthesizer sizes. Confused with the different sizes and dimensions that modular synth manufacturers use? Well here is a brief break down of how they measure up with one another. Most synth manufacturers use varying widths, but standardize when it comes to height. The dimensions they share stem from rack mounted equipment (audio & computer). Modular synths between 3U and 6U are the most common.
Width and height are the most important factors. Width is usually measured in units of TE (TeilungsEinheiten, german.) or HP (Horizontal Pitch)One TE/HP = 5.08mm = 0.2inches or 1/5" Height is usually measured in terms of HE (HöhenEinheit, german.). or units (U, english)One U = 44.45mm = 1.75 inches. ******************************************************* 1U (1.75 inches or 44.45mm) Not a very common size when it comes to modular synths. It is used extensively in audio gear.
Erthenvar sell 1U PulpLogic modules such as this Sample & Hold. Wiard does produce a 2Unit 311C Dual JAG Controller A panel of Driscol modules.
A Slew of Open-Source Synthesizers. 8 of the most important modular synths in musical history. Sequencer. How to use Bitwig Studio 2 to control your modular hardware. Before MIDI, some (not all) analogue synthesisers could be interconnected by shuttling actual voltages back and forth. This method of communication made use of two or three distinct signal types. Envelopes could be triggered via voltage gates (essentially a voltage held at a steady state for a given period of time - for as long as a key is held down, say), as well as triggers (short voltage spikes). The latter might also be used to sync sequencers together. The third signal was the control voltage. With the modern modular synth renaissance, control voltages are back, and along with them all the headaches of yore. For much more on integrating hardware into your computer-based studio, pick up the June edition of Computer Music.
Step 1: Bitwig Studio 2 features the ability to control analogue synthesisers right from within the program, though you’ll need a compatible audio interface or dedicated hardware module like the Expert Sleepers ES-3. Step 5: Let’s connect the hardware.
ELECTRONOTES. Plan your modular synthesizer rack on ModularGrid. Samsung Level U Wireless Headphones, Gold. USB REGEN – UpTone Audio. The UpTone Audio USB REGEN™ just might be the next big leap for computer audio. [The reviews from many of the over 2,500 people worldwide now using a REGEN are filled with excitement over how musically effective the device is. Drop in on some thoughtful ones here at ComputerAudiophile.com: USB REGEN Listening Impressions.] The USB REGEN takes the digital audio stream from your computer or other music streaming device, and generates a completely new USB data signal to feed to your DAC. It accomplishes this by combining a carefully chosen USB hub chip with an ultra low-noise regulator and low-jitter clock. If you are familiar with the variations in sound quality that come from different computer configurations, USB cables, and power supplies (no, "bits are bits" really does not apply when pursuing the audio summit), then you will immediately recognize the often dramatic effect that the REGEN can have on the the connection you feel with the music.

Eurorack standard specs - Mutable instruments' users community. The Secret World Of Modular Synthesizers. Bedroom-based boffins the world over are manufacturing increasingly bizarre and esoteric synth modules. Come with us as we step away from the modular mainstream and take a look at some of the more eccentric Eurorack synth modules this weird world has to offer. Al James Welcome to the wild west. Far below the slow-moving product cycles of music tech's big-brand behemoths, a small yet busy branch of synth technology is creating some of the strangest, deepest and most inspiring ideas in synthesis, and turning them into products you can actually buy. Products both designed and bought by an increasing legion of musicians who, in a corner of their studios keep a box, filled with wires, that makes visitors remark: 'I know what this stuff is, but what in heck is that?
' Don't get me wrong, I love my fixed-architecture synths dearly. But a modular synth can be a wonderful addition to an electronic music setup, especially if you already have other analogue gear. Modular Revisited Oscillators Cylonix. A collection of man-made 'music' and the machines behind it. As technology became a part of modern life in the 19th century, an increasing amount of scientific study led to breakthroughs in electronic sound engineering -- often as a byproduct of other research. Humans became enamored with the crystalline clarity of these exotic machine-borne tones and as the technology matured, so did the range of output. Electrically powered machines were recreating the sounds of traditional instruments and even mimicking human speech.
Once computers arrived, the possibilities seemed boundless as software for composing and performing electronic music were developed. Below, we've gathered together a few pioneering moments that've helped shaped our electronic soundscape. So listen and learn. Forum • Zyklus Improvisor harmonic sequencer.
Embedded Systems/PIC Microcontroller. Manufactured by Microchip, the PIC ("Programmable Intelligent Computer" or "Peripheral Interface Controller" ) microcontroller is popular among engineers and hobbyists alike. PIC microcontrollers come in a variety of "flavors", each with different components and capabilities. Many types of electronic projects can be constructed easily with the PIC family of microprocessors, among them clocks, very simple video games, robots, servo controllers, and many more. The PIC is a very general purpose microcontroller that can come with many different options, for very reasonable prices. Other microprocessors in this family include the Parallax SX, the Holtek HT48FxxE Series, and some "PIC-on-a-FPGA" implementations. History[edit] General Instruments produced a chip called the PIC1650, described as a Programmable Intelligent Computer. Which PIC to Use[edit] How do you find a PIC that is right for you out of nearly 2000 different models of PIC microcontrollers?
