Projects. ReGame VR Lab Explores Applications of Active Games and Virtual Reality in Rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Games and Virtual Reality (ReGame VR) laboratory at Northeastern University is working on finding ways to integrate active video games and virtual reality technology into rehabilitation.
The Rehabilitation Games and Virtual Reality (ReGame VR) laboratory at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts is exploring the ways to improve rehabilitation programs for children and adults with neuro-motor problems by integrating virtual reality and active gaming systems into therapy. The lab is dedicated to promoting evidence-based integration of these innovative interactive technologies to improve different aspects of rehabilitation, including balance, motor learning and functional mobility training. The ReGame VR lab will use a range of commercial, rehabilitation-specific interactive gaming products to conduct research.
The ReGame VR lab is also developing brand new rehabilitation equipment and tools. INVIVO Bloodstream Explorer VR – Aplicații Android pe Google Play. MindMaze. HITLab Projects : VR Pain Control. TRY immersive SNOWWORLD FOR YOURSELF at the Contemporary Art Museum of Houston, Jan 26-April 20,, 2008.

Stanford Health Anatomy Tours. Virtual reality, applications in physiotherapy. Healthcare. City Therapy VR is a low-cost, accessible virtual reality physical therapy treatment.
Current physical therapy routines for broken bones and replaced hips are dull and painful, with no method of distraction or motivation. With the $20 Google Cardboard, a smartphone, an Arduino, an accelerometer sensor, and a bluetooth module, patients can look forward their daily physical therapy routine, now a city-building virtual reality game controlled by the movements of the limb being stretched.
Our current demo is designed for two physical therapy exercises prescribed to a broken arm– rotation of the wrist and extension of the arm at the elbow. In the Cardboard headset, the patient is introduced to the game, where they become a mayor at a desolate city they must rebuild. With rotation of the wrist (captured by the wearable accelerometer), the player clears the existing skyscrapers and with extension of the arm, raises buildings from the ground.
Healthcare. Using virtual reality to advance physical therapy. Northeastern's Danielle Levac develops video games to make physical therapy more fun, motivating, and rewarding for patients—especially for children with movement impairments, such as those with cerebral palsy.
Levac, professor of physical therapy in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, invited a group of fifth-grade students from Boston's Ellis Mendell Elementary School to visit her lab last week. The young students sat in the Rehabilitation Games and Virtual Reality Laboratory illuminated by floor-to-ceiling screens with virtual worlds on them, and learned about what physical therapists do and how research can benefit their patients.
"Why do you think a physical therapist would use games like this in physical therapy? " Levac asked the group. "One reason is so we can help people to move a part of their body that may have gotten hurt in an accident or damaged by a disease.
