Sticky Gingerbread Recipe (Just like McVities Ginger Cake!) One of my favourite cakes ever is the simple ginger cake.
Every week we used to always get one of the McVities Jamaica Ginger Cakes. I think it’s the moistness of the cake that really does it, and that special dark sticky top that they seem to get. I have done a few ginger cakes before but haven’t found one that is as good as this one. Left for a couple of days and you also get that seemingly illusive sticky top. It is from ‘The Great British Book of Baking’ which accompanies the TV series ‘The Great British Bake Off’ with the legend that is Mary Berry.

Recipe courtesy of Nigella.com. Banana apple bread with caramel sauce and pecans. The apple saga continues: there’s just been way too many apples around my house lately.
I’ve been trying to put them to good use by making apple muffins and apple pumpkin breads, baking apple cobblers and apple crisps. I even started eating an apple a day. And, yet, I don’t seem to make a dent in a huge stash of apples I have accumulated (mostly thanks to my mother-in-law and her apple tree which did not get attacked by a herd of elks this year – last year the elks ate all the apples, so I didn’t have the “apple” problem).
I am drowning in apples, so it only makes sense that I made this banana apple bread, and dressed it up by topping it with a delicious caramel sauce and finely chopped pecans! Oh, those apples! I like to make my banana breads with as little oil/butter as I can get away with without losing texture, and Greek yogurt + very ripe bananas are great helpers here! The smells in my house while this bread was baking were unbelievable. The new baker: dark and sticky gingerbread with a whiskey glaze. Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread Recipe - Allrecipes.com. Nigella's sticky gingerbread recipe. Make your home smell sticky sweet with this dreamy gingerbread from Nigella Lawson.
I can’t disentangle the smell of gingerbread from the smell of Christmas: I can think of no better welcome as people come through the door of the kitchen than the waft of it freshly baking in the oven. It is relaxingly simple to prepare, is good at any hour and keeps wonderfully. I’m happy with it unfrosted, just left plain or perhaps snowily dusted with icing sugar, but if you want you can (as I do if it is for a bake sale) make a sharply contrasting icing by sieving 175g icing sugar and mixing it till thick and spreadable with a tablespoon of lemon juice and one of warm water. Spread this over the cold slab of gingerbread, and leave to set before cutting. But it is, perhaps, the simplicity of the gingerbread, sticky with syrup and dark muscovado sugar, that makes me love it most. Ingredients 3 Take off the heat, and add the milk, eggs and dissolved bicarbonate of soda in its water.
Dark Jamaican Gingerbread - Cakes for tea! Return to listing This cake, originally from the sugar-and-spice island of Jamaica, has sadly become a factory-made clone, but made at home it’s dark, sticky, fragrant with ginger – the real thing.
Sticky Gingerbread Recipe (Just like McVities Ginger Cake!) Sallys Baking Addiction White Chocolate Mango Banana Bread. » Sallys Baking Addiction. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be mango.
Seriously. Not peanut butter, chocolate, or cookies. Not sushi (LOVE!) , BBQ chicken pizza (obsessed), or even guacamole. Nope, none of these things even come close to my questionably crazy love for mangoes.
