It is one thing to know a religious or spiritual truth; it can be quite another to actually experience that truth in a deep and meaningful way. Ritual is perhaps the oldest and most sucessful way of bridging this gap. Rituals are the Pagan/Witch/Wiccan way to hold their ceremonies much as the Christians go to Church for Prayer Circle or Mass. Pagans /Witches /Wiccans have many rituals for birth, naming, coming of age, marriage, divorce and funerals. It varies from tradition to tradition, as it does from Protestant to Catholic to Jewish. One of the things you may need to keep in mind is 'allergies'. Designing a ritual is much like writing a term paper for school. Who do you want to participate in this ritual??? The eagle is the "King of the Birds" and the "Lion of the Skies," and its use as a symbol is clear. It resembles power, authority, nobility, and truth, it is the ultimate solar symbol. In Greek, the name of the eagle shares the same stem as aigle, meaning "ray of light. " Over the years in Christian iconography, the eagle has represented a special messenger from Heaven, the spirit of prophecy, a prayer rising swiftly to God, and even the Ascension of Christ. St. Psalms 103:5, "so that thy youth is renewed like an eagle's"; and Isaiah 40:31, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles," both allude to the old Hebrew belief that the eagle had the ability to plunge into the sea and regenerate itself every 10 years.
Shamans believe that the eagle communicated their gifts directly from God, the bird acting as intermediary. "Witchcraft For The 21st Century" Maya Magee Sutton: Druid Magic. Druid Magic Many people today think that hardly anything is known about the spiritual traditions of our Druid ancestors and believe that the knowledge of them is all but lost; but this is not true.
The reality is that there is so much information about Druidry, and there are so many new developments in Druidry, as a living spirituality, that we need guides to help us follow this ancient but ever-new tradition. Because Druidry was transmitted mostly by oral tradition, it was effectively destroyed by its Roman and Christian opponents although a few traces have come down to us from Druid hands. There are three main sources of evidence for the reconstruction of Druidry: Celtic stories of Wales, Ireland and Scotland that have survived in folklore and literature although written down centuries after the era they purport to describe; Greek and Roman classical writings, many of which were biased in their views; and material evidence retrieved by archaeology.
