Construction Site Diorama. 24 April 2012 by Roar Sweetly Dioramas have a school project loveliness about them and are wonderfully tactile in this digital age.
I’ve been meaning to make a construction site for my son for some time now and was motivated again after organising his toys and seeing all his little yellow diggers together. This project is easy to make and came in at a grand total of $0.00 as I sourced all my materials from around the house and yard. Here’s a step by step guide: Materials Large cardboard boxGarbage bagStanley knife / scissorsTape and glueBlue paint + brushSeveral printed sheets of rocks and other construction materialsA sheet of white paperA couple kilos of slightly damp sandSmall assortment of rocks, paddle-pop sticks, bark etcBuilding site accessories and signsYellow diggers Instructions Cut the box on each side diagonally from the top back corner to approximately 10 cm (4″) above the bottom front corner.

Preschool Science- How long will a Lego Boat Float? We have been exploring money and counting it lately.
JDaniel loves to count pennies so, I decided to tie counting pennies to a LEGO themed science activity I am calling Preschool Science- How Long will a LEGO Boat Float? My son isn’t in preschool anymore. (Although he wishes he had gotten to go to the kindergarten program at his old preschool. The day is shorter there for kindergartners.) Clothespin Airplanes {Party Favors} - Create Craft Love. Reed just turned three over the weekend!
{tear} Where does the time go? Ever since we went on the “hairplane with PaPa” this summer {yes, that’s how he pronounces it}, Reed has been talking about an airplane themed party. I scoured Pinterest for ideas and saw these adorable clothespin airplanes from Oriental Trading and thought they would be perfect for party favors. But they didn’t have them in the colors I wanted so I decided to improvise. Leçon - Les transports - Le Monde des Petits. Vehicle Nets. It’s come to my attention that the crafts on our blog are (just a little) on the girly side.
BUT I know there are mums out there with boys who might not be interested in all things pink and sparkly, so here we have made (or rather I have made – the girls didn’t want a bar of this one!) Some cute & easy egg carton helicpoters. Mums, you will need to do the fiddly bits here, but the boys (or girls) can help out plenty, and they will love playing with these cute-as-custard little “toys”. You will need: • Egg Carton(s) • Craft knife and cutting mat • Paint & brushes • Scissors • Paper • Marker • Split pins How to: Cut your egg carton into single pieces, snipping the tall part off and cutting it in half for the tail.
You will need more tall parts (you might need another carton for this). Paint these parts, making a half circle at the front for the windcreen. Like this. Once dry, add detail with a black marker. Glue them together into a cross shape. All done. Bricolage train. A few days ago, the girls and I embarked on what turned out to be an epic craft project.
Looks & seems simple enough, right? That’s what I thought anyway.
1. 2. 3. 4. Bricolage moyen de transport.
Lego moyen de transport. It has been raining and raining and raining some more here!
It was a very wet weekend and as you can imagine the kids were getting restless by the end of it. Time to get crafty! Luckily I came across some photos online of a very clever balloon powered car and inspired my Mr Happy (6) to have a go. The idea is simple: incorporate a balloon into your “car” so that when you blow it up and let it go, the air makes the car roll.
