Eduserv - OpenAthens

UK federation information centre | Home / Home browse An exciting new OpenAthens feature coming this summer: the Redirector | Eduserv Blog The development team at OpenAthens, with the invaluable input and insight of our partner EBSCO, spent the cold winter months (in the UK at least) developing a new feature for our hosted service: the Redirector. The goal of the Redirector is to create a seamless experience for a user accessing e-resources either within their organisation’s IP range or off network. If an end-user is accessing the resources within a recognized IP range they will be taken directly to the resource they require. If they are off-site and outside of the IP range they simply need to provide their username and password to access the resource. The Redirector eases the burden of link management for librarians and improves the experience for patrons and end users, providing: one link for managing access;one format for all compatible resources;and one OpenAthens knowledge base that stores and maintains the required formats.
