This resort town had already established itself as a vacation mecca. Beautiful hotels, elegant restaurants, and the Atlantic Ocean beckoned the well-to-do and the middle class to spend a few days or a few weeks in luxury during the summer months. Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House - Part One (The “World” According to Jack) The Animal Kingdom Lodge presented the Imagineers with a challenge. You don’t come across too many massive six story buildings out on the Serengeti. So how do you disguise an enormous hotel to look like an authentic, intimate structure that you might actually find someplace in East Africa? The answer to this problem was twofold. Paradise Pier, for example, made the list, but only a theme park view room.

I like the ambiance on 12/18/2013 by Ahnalira I like the colorful ambiance of this resort, and Shutters (the full service restaurant) is a cozy "Disney secret"... good Caribbean style food. It's a HUGE resort, though, so be prepared to walk a distance from the main area to your room. If you like walking that can be a plus, but if you're tired after a day at the parks..not so much :P
