Animal Lipstick Art – Painted Lips
While hunting through Deviantart.com I found a very clever body paint artist, Viridis-Somnio. She has been extremely creative with her lipstick application and painted her lips to resemble some animals in a very unique way. It certainly doesn’t hurt that she has a killer set of lips to work with and her attention to detail is nothing to stick your tongue out at.
No More Yoga Pants: How to Dress Like a Frenchwoman
Photo: Vogue I was at a conference recently and saw my friend Gabrielle, who is living in Normandy for the year. She looked lovely, as always, and was wearing the best outfit: a fitted navy blazer over a simple tee and pleated skirt. She had paired this clean, minimal look with a pair of Bass saddle oxfords with satin laces. “You look so French!” I told her.

Steampunk Keyboard Mod
My goal with this project was to build a retro keyboard that was fully functional and of a sufficient quality that it could be used everyday by a touch typist. In order to achieve this I chose a high quality (though widely available) keyboard as my starting point. This is an IBM Model M "Clicky" keyboard.
J Brand Will Now Show at New York Fashion Week
After years of showing up at Fashion Week as clothing that editors wear, not watch come down the runway, J Brand will join G Star, J.Crew, and a slew of other casual brands by showing a presentation this upcoming Fashion Week season. It's their first go at this. “We felt the time was right with the success of ready to wear,” CEO Jeff Rudes tells the Cut, reminding us that J Brand sells things other than jeans. Karl Templer, of Interview and other styling notoriety, will be collaborating on the show, which basically means he'll run and create outfits for the whole thing. So does that mean we’ll see some J Brand skirts over jeans? Only time will tell (and by "time," we mean Wednesday, February 6, at 5 p.m.; stay tuned here).

Wind Map
An invisible, ancient source of energy surrounds us—energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future. This map shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the US. The wind map is a personal art project, not associated with any company. We've done our best to make this as accurate as possible, but can't make any guarantees about the correctness of the data or our software.
Victorian Halloween: Halloween in the Victorian Era Old Ghost Stories
According to the History Channel, there was a movement in the late 19th Century to move away from a focus on ghosts and witchcraft during Halloween to more fun, neighborly get-togethers and parties. Generally, our modern focus on ghosts seems to be more about dressing up to score candy and treats as opposed to scaring away evil souls. Many early 20th Century postcards contain traditionally "spooky" subjects turned into cuter, less scary renditions. But during the Victorian Era, ghosts were ghosts, and October 31st was a time to be afraid. Nightfall didn't give way to the electric glow of well-lit rooms and the comforting distractions of music, television and computers. Instead, candles, gas and moonlight conspired to create eerie shadows on the walls, and the dead October leaves danced like delirious sprites into the dark landscape.
