D.I.Y. Curls // How To Rag Roll Your Hair - A Beautiful Mess - StumbleUpon I love the look of naturally curly hair! My sweet friend, Katie, told me about rag rolling. It's a quick and simple way to get natural looking curls without using a curling iron! I asked her to share her method here on A Beautiful Mess because I knew you'd be itching to learn like I was! How To Style Maiden Braids Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example). Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part. Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each. Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband.

HAIR COLOR HOW TO: Hair Chalking Get ready to paint the town, I mean, your hair red....green, hot pink, or any color you like. All temporary- to wash out at your next shampooing! Fun and creative, without the commitment! I'm gonna show you how to do HAIR CHALKING. This is not new, it's been around for a while, but I thought I'd do a "hair chalking" tutorial for you guys to inspire you and have fun with! So watch the tutorial below! A Beautiful Mess I love using cloth napkins to dress up our dinner table, and through the years I've grown even more fond of their sustainability and cost effectiveness. Though, I'm not sure how cost effective it is if you keep buying more and more cloth napkins each year! This holiday season I thought it would be fun to look at how I could dress up the napkins I already own to give them an extra festive vibe. Check out three simple ways you can give new life to your table linens. And hey!

See Creatures & The Perfect Mermaid Curls - StumbleUpon Although “perfect” is a relative term, this method for curling hair is pretty much perfect by my standards, mostly because it isn’t fussy. While I’m a sucker for both ringlets and Californian waves, I like my own curls somewhere in between: relaxed but bouncy. Mermaid-like. Supplies: 1″ curling iron, brush, and hair sprayTime: 45 minutes (for thick hair) All of the magic happens with Revlon’s “Helen of Troy” ceramic 1″ curling iron. For those who have long, thick hair like me, you might find that larger curling barrels produce the most pathetic excuse for “waves” that fall out within the hour, regardless of the amount of hair spray. this or that - thebeautydepartment.com Post + Photography by Amy Nadine, Graphic Design by Eunice Chun Have you ever wondered if there’s truly a difference when you wear matte or shimmer shadows? A lot of us have strong opinions as to which one we prefer, so I decided to do a little case study with these constants:

Dyeing Effects 10 August 2001 If you’ve been dyeing your hair for a while you probably get sick of solid colour sometimes… or maybe you’ve already tried every colour there is and need a change. Try some of these techniques to liven up your dye job. h2. Sea of Shoes: HAIR HOW-TO - StumbleUpon I am sometimes asked how I style my hair, and while my method is far from perfect, I thought I'd show you how! My hair is pretty straight and fine naturally and I always let it air dry. Since I go about three days between washes, I like to curl it on the first day and let it mellow out into some nice waves over the next two.

Homemade Hair Treatments - At-Home Hair Repair at WomansDay.com - StumbleUpon Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they're not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin's oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? Or that the mild acidity in lemon is an effective—and gentler—alternative to chemical-laden products? Next time your locks need a lift, save money by using one of these kitchen fixes.

25 Beauty Tips Reusing Household Items – Homemade Beauty Tips on ELLE - StumbleUpon 1. Old Buttons Repurpose spare buttons by using them to keep pairs of earrings together: Most buttons have at least two holes in them, so simply place an earring in each opening to neatly store when not wearing. Your hair doesn’t need to be extremely long, but you do need some length to cover the top of your head with. If you have layers, you could instead create a tiny French Braid where the hair is shorter and closer to your head, if that makes sense. But it’s a fun and cute braided hair style that’s just a little different.
