Calling all stock photographers! Alamy has put together its 2018 image trend report so you can start capturing the types of images that people will be looking for this year. To compile their data, Alamy looked at thousands of images their customers have purchased over the past 3 months to identify trends and patterns in both UK and US markets. This year's data showed very similar key trends for the UK and America so as well as outlining four key trends to watch out for this year, Image Trends 2018 focuses on the stylistic qualities of the images trending in each market.
Food photography: the tricks of the trade
Last week, I met my new neighbour for the first time, at 7am, over the garden fence. He was getting on his bicycle; I was squatting, in my pyjamas, photographing an ice cream sundae. It wasn't until later I realised he probably thought me strange. Barbecuing jerk chicken on a grey and chilly Monday to get a shot before the rain sets in, or crouching over a lone scotch egg in the local park is all in a day's work for me. I never gave food photography much thought before joining the industry.
