The ultimate guide for the ambitious Innovation Manager (100+ sources)
Running innovation projects is hard. By definition you’re doing new things so you can’t rely on old habits and routines. If you and your innovation team don’t feel uncomfortable, you’re simply not innovating. That doesn’t mean you’ll need to fly blind. At every moment in your innovation process you can use tools, references, checklists and other innovation methods. We do the same in our innovation projects.
David C. Hodgson: Social Entrepreneurship Soars as a Career Choice: Finding meaning in work and life
Has "social entrepreneur" become a career of choice? Twenty-five years ago, at the founding of Echoing Green, an organization that provides seed money and support to promising social entrepreneurs, young people wanted to be doctors, lawyers or business executives. No one ever said they wanted to be a social entrepreneur.

Ben Bowler: The Next Revolution is Spiritual
Last week I had the great pleasure of attending the ISEP (INSEAD Social Enterprise Program) international conference and alumni reunion in Jakarta and Bali in Indonesia. The event brings together prominent social entrepreneurs from around the world to share and connect with each while learning about the latest innovations and academic developments in the relatively new and volatile field of social enterprise. Great work is being done and solutions are being wrought out in the fields of poverty alleviation, environmental protection, intercultural cohesion and a host of other neglected areas. Rubbing shoulders with such remarkable people on the beaches of Bali, it's hard not to feel upbeat about the future. In fact the entire experience has left me feeling that the next big revolution could well be spiritual. The theme of the conference was "Social Economy 4.0", a reference to the influential book Capitalism 4.0 by British Economist Anatole Kaletsky.
Innovating Innovation? General Mills Makes It Happen
General Mills is one of my favourite open innovation companies. They have great people on their open innovation team, G-WIN, who are always open to sharing their insights and experiences with others. They also constantly push themselves in their efforts to make open innovation even more successful at General Mills. Now, they have developed a new approach to their open innovation efforts called X3 and I really like how they focus on the need for facilitators.
Freedom key to workplace of the future
Could this type of office be a thing of the past? Future offices spaces could be like mobile meeting places where workers gather. As workers gain more freedom, the line between self-employed and employed will become blurredThe concept of the full time job may be the first thing to goThe changing workforce may also shift global power centers to the developing countries (CNN) -- The world's workforce is undergoing a revolution which will change the way we think about employment, office spaces and hierarchy - and may also shift global power centers to the developing countries, experts say.
Could Governments Get Entrepreneurship?
Some people think governments should stay away from the entrepreneurial world. Yet, some of the most interesting programs we have seen recently, such as Start-Up Chile, are promoted by local authorities. However, this program is very recent compared to another initiative called Barcelona Activa. If you have traveled to Barcelona lately, you may have noted its talent attraction campaign, “Do it in Barcelona“. Yet, what you may not know is that Barcelona Activa has been around since 1986.
Sally Osberg: Social Entrepreneurs "Refreshingly Uncynical"
Just as I was coming up for air after our ninth Skoll World Forum, held each spring in the U.K. at Oxford University, David Brooks' New York Times column on social entrepreneurs hit my desk. Talk about timing! For starters, Mr. Brooks cites coffee shops, universities and "a certain sort of conference" as fertile ground for bumping into "some of these wonderful young people who are doing good." Big note to self: be sure to invite him to the Forum next year.
Are Women Better Leaders than Men? - Jack Zenger and Joseph Folkman
by Jack Zenger and Joseph Folkman | 10:14 AM March 15, 2012 We’ve all heard the claims, the theories, and the speculation about the ways leadership styles vary between women and men. Our latest survey data puts some hard numbers into the mix.
Innovation Is About Arguing, Not Brainstorming. Here's How To Argue Productively
Turns out that brainstorming--that go-to approach to generating new ideas since the 1940s--isn’t the golden ticket to innovation after all. Both Jonah Lehrer, in a recent article in The New Yorker , and Susan Cain, in her new book Quiet , have asserted as much. Science shows that brainstorms can activate a neurological fear of rejection and that groups are not necessarily more creative than individuals.
