Top 10 Mad Science-Worthy Chemistry Experiments
Chemistry is a fascinating science, but it's often taught poorly in today's boring schools. Here's how chemistry should be taught: by mad scientists! Here's Neatorama's list of the Top 10 Mad Science-Worthy Chemistry Experiments:
12 Gadgets to Survive the Apocalypse
Now is a good time to ponder the apocalypse. Iran and North Korea are going nuclear, the wonky weather is a harbinger of catastrophic climate change, and end-of-the-world blockbusters abound. (Tim Burton's '9' came out last week and '2012,' 'The Road,' and 'Zombieland' are all coming up later this fall.) In that dismal spirit, the Switched team has gathered its first choices for last-chance gadgetry -- a collection of 12 must-haves if society is in peril, whether it be by fire or ice, zombies or aliens. Using our handy "What Type of Apocalypse Will It Be?" chart below, you'll be able to find the right gadgets for the right disaster and the ensuing fallout.

unVerse for iOS
a gorgeous little music toy, never to be released on iPhone and iPad... play with the original Flash version by Ian Snyder... (or go play the original original version on Ian's website) Apple decided that unVerse did not have enough "use", so it won't ever be released. You can download the source code if you want to play around.
Combustion Simulation
In a chemical reaction a reactant is consumed during a reaction while a product is formed as a result. In this game two examples of chemical reactions are highlighted: combustion and gasification. In both cases a hydrocarbon (such as oil, coal or wood) and oxygen are the reactants, while the products vary depending on the process and amount of oxygen. Any product of a chemical reaction that is not the intended product of the reaction is a by-product. In combustion processes, heat is the main intended product, and the chemical compounds that are produced are considered by-products. The by-products produced by combustion depend on the type of reaction and reactants present.
The World’s Top Ten Social Networks
Social Networking has become a global phenomenon over the past 8 years and continues to grow year on year. So we’ve all heard of the big players like Twitter and Facebook, but there are thousands of Social Networking sites out there, many of which have been left by the wayside since the introduction of Facebook. Let’s take a look at the top ten Social Networks of 2011. This list is based on the number of users on each site and their Global Alexa traffic ranking.
Molecular modeling software
Ascalaph is a general purpose molecular modeling software that performs quantum mechanics calculations for initial molecular model development, molecular mechanics and dynamics simulations in the gas or in condensed phase. It can interact with external molecular modeling packages (MDynaMix, NWChem, CP2K, PC GAMESS/Firefly and DelPhi). Learn more about Ascalaph Packages Download Abalone is designed for macromolecular simulations (proteins, DNA). It supports both explicit and implicit solvent models.

The Six Types of Chemical Reaction
All chemical reactions can be placed into one of six categories. Here they are, in no particular order: 1) Combustion: A combustion reaction is when oxygen combines with another compound to form water and carbon dioxide. These reactions are exothermic, meaning they produce heat. An example of this kind of reaction is the burning of napthalene: 2) Synthesis: A synthesis reaction is when two or more simple compounds combine to form a more complicated one.
Five Reasons Why Your Mission Statement Probably Stinks
I can probably count on one hand the number of great company mission statements I've seen in my over two decades in marketing. While most business owners have been told that they need to have a mission statement, not everyone has been instructed on how to create one that's useful and meaningful. By definition, a mission statement communicates the fundamental purpose and values of a business or organization. In simpler terms, your mission statement should make it clear why your company exists.
