AS3 E4X Rundown | dispatchEvent() Blogâ ¢ I’ve been using E4X in ActionScript 3.0 for a while now and the rumors of its simplicity have been greatly exaggerated. A lot of operations are easy and make sense, but others are less… obvious. E4X is essentially a whole new language which is part of the AS3 grammar, just as regular expressions have their own completely different language but exist within ActionScript 3.0. And being so new, there really isn’t a whole lot of documentation out there. This is further complicated by the fact that since E4X seems simple enough at first glance to explain in a few lines, a lot of documentation stops short. Anyway. For the following post, let’s use this XML block as an example: var thePeople:XML = <people><person name="Mims Wright" suffix="III"><age>27</age><aka>Mims H Wright</aka><aka>Teh AWesoeomes! XMLList vs XML Ok, first thing you notice is that you can just type in XML and it becomes an XML typed variable. <age>27</age><age>26</age> This can’t be XML because there are two root nodes.
Pure Sync: Free Backup and File Synchronization Tool From Christoph Güntner’s company, Jumping Bytes, comes an “easy to use” backup and file synchronization tool that guides the user through complex settings with ease. Pure Sync scores high points all around, from a clearly laid out interface to advanced customization abilities and support for multiple storage mediums and transfer technologies. Unlike Mozy, Carbonite or Jungle Disk, Pure Sync is aimed more at local backups and operations. It’s a useful tool if, for example, you use an external hard drive or a NAS (Network Attached Storage) for backup. Using Pure Sync, you can backup just the files that have changed, instead of manually copying everything over. Pure Sync is a versatile tool ““ supporting local drives, server volumes such as MyServerfolder, MTP devices and WebDAV. Using the wizard, virtually any user, no matter how tech-savvy they are, can set up either a backup, synchronize a folder or automatically download photos from a camera. How to use Pure Sync

InfraRecorder & Welcome PureSync Makes File Backup and Synchronization Simple - Backup utilities I currently use SyncBack Freeware ([www.2brightsparks.com]) and PureSync appears to have a very similar feature list. Is there any advantages of PureSync over SyncBack? At the moment I only sync my files with my external hard drive manually, but I was wondering what backup strategies people on here use. I think I should start to backup my files in an incremental way each day, and then archive these backups each week and month in order to prevent any accidental overwriting of files I may need to restore. Is there any way I can configure this program, or SyncBack, to allow me to do this without massively increasing the size of my backup? Thanks in advance
